I hear what you're saying - but replace ASA with Independance and Dulles with Atlanta and this was their story. And it didn't work. I'm not smart enough to say why it didn't work (although I got my opinions :) ) but I'm pretty sure there's a market for RJs, I just think that market is fee for departure......
 
Fee for departure is the only way to successfully use RJs, and that happens with hubs and feeding an airline. Without a feed opportunity, passengers will head for Mainline sized airplanes (at LCCs for example), rather than fly cheap on RJs. Indy Air proved it all.
