D'Angelo said:Dont worry HS the Delta pilots will also vote to save their careers. As soon as the FAs are dealt with here at comair ill still be livin it up! Then when Delta pilots vote to save their job its smooth sailing from there.

Bringupthebird said:"Save" their jobs, eh? If I "save" a dollar, I still have that dollar. When they "save" their jobs they end up with 57 cents. How is this "saving" anything? It's agreeing to do the same job for less money. You haven't "saved" anything, you've diminished it.

Good thing we dont believe all the picket signs that we have seen over the years. How heartless of ALPO to charge dues since all their members are obviously in poverty! Hey im just sayin what the signs tell me!mesaba2425 said:So I guess all Mesaba pilots make $17,000?? They must because that's what the picket signs said.

doh said:Hmm, I have not seen a sign that says ALL MESABA PILOTS MAKE $17,000 PER YEAR. I have however, read manytimes in the paper that I make $200,000 per year. Could you please put the picture on the board that tells me all Mesaba pilots make 17K.
kmox29 said:He wont be able to do that. The sign read "I make $17,000 a year" and was carried by an individual. Very different from the blanket statement management gives the media such as "Mesaba pilots make $40,000 a year".
I'm starting to think D'Angelo might be right. He and Mesaba 2425 shouldn't have to join the union. They should be allowed to be hired by a company and negotiate their own pay, work rules, retirement, etc. I think that would unbunch their panties.
D'Angelo said:Not at all there are no new companies out there. The rates are already set at every company. In todays environment you have to simply realize whats prudent and whats not. Thats deregulation. The market does work though. In your union worst case scenario theory if a non union company only topped people out at 45 k/year the attrition would be too high. At a point it gets cheaper to raise the wages than to keep training new pilots over and over. What point that is I dunno but its set by the market. Shame on the union for keeping wages artificially high all these years. Now theyve created an environment of shattered dreams when the market simply cant bear the wages.
Bringupthebird said:Yeah, there's plenty of opportunities with non-union charter companies in Farmingdale and Islip for this guy. I wonder what compelled him to go to Comair? He mustn't have been drawn by the CA salaries, because they had been negotiated by union thugs. Why would he want the guilt of that on his conscience? He better not apply at a major, the guilt would do him in!
Wait, now I understand. He has a donation to management payroll deducted. His motto, "If we all earn a little, we can all do a lot!"
Remember, it's never too early to save your job!

And D'oosch, you still have not explained to me how "it is possible" for ALL pilots at Comair to have 15-16 days off.

I guess they've gotten a pay raise since the last time they picketed. Now they make $21K. Previously they made $17K.
