DAL jumpseat courtesy

I have to respectfully disagree here. When you stated he was DAL that pretty much summed it up. Hands down the biggest snobs in the industry when it comes to jumpseating (at least on my DAL Conx carrier). Granted, not all of them are like that, but truly nice and professional ones are the exception not the rule.

I love comments like this....Hey sport, relax, not all DL pilots are out to be snobs! Maybe its your charming personality that turns them off!

FWIW, our ops man states the jumpseater is encouraged, but not required, to check in with the captain when riding in the back.

Well, since you're not the captain, then don't worry about it sparky!

Checking the jumpseating persons credentials is the responsibility of the cpt.

When jumpseating I always ask and bring cookies (time permitting).

When I have a paid ticket, I don't stick my head in the cockpit. If every Fedex pilot did that, NWA would be shut down in MEM every Monday morning!

There's always that 2% that just can't seem to follow the rules or do the right thing. I have them at my company, you have them at yours.

USNFDX is right. Yesterday on my NW flight to IND there were 29 FedEx pilots booked on the flight. I'm sure more than half deviated and took different routes to get to IND, but that is still a lot of FedEx pilots on just that one flight.

All on paid tickets, some in uniform some not. I don't think anybody checked in with the flight crew, that Monday morning wave would never get airborne if we all stopped in to say hey!


All kind of off the subject, but interesting to me at least.

Lastly, JB has one of these finest jumpseat policies in the business, please dont abuse us, or treat us like proverbial red headed stepchildren. (sorry if youre a redhead.)

It's a good thing you have the finest JS policy, because I'm sure your pilots take many more rides than they give, due to the JFK base and your very limited route structure. In fact, if not for the JS, I'm guessing JB could not exist in its current form.

There is still no excuse to not say hello to the CA if the guy was jumpseating but please don't brag about that liberal JS policy like it's sheer generosity. I'm certain JB knew they would need a high percentage of commuters in order to run a NYC base.

With that statement I guess your of the same opinion with CAL and EWR? Or any other airline who has bases that people don't live in? You obviously don't commute do you? Since you don't have any idea about who J/S's on us, or why, then you should keep your comments to yourself. I happen to have taken many more OAL pilots to or from JFK than our own.
