1. The flying goes to Skywest Airlines BUT do they have enough airframes to cover the flying? If not, where would they come OR be transferred from?
2. JO puts all EMB pilots on RES for the month of July.

"Ornstein predicts an "amicable solution."
Could the solution be a backfill with Freedom?
There will not be a new airline added to the group as stated by DAL that they are going to trim the number.
Remember,
"ExpressJet Delta Connection, chiefly operating out of Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, will cease by Sept. 1, the airlines said."
Someone is going to have to move very, very fast to start an operation.
In September SkyWest will close ATL base and move the Airframes out west to SLC and LAX. ASA will gain a few 90's to replace the airplanes that move out. Expect the announcement near the end of July...

Expect the announcement near the end of July... Opening SkyWest LAX domicile (other than the reserve base), and about 150 furloughs ( Maybe more if Midwest augers in before that.), plus a bunch of transitions back down to the Brasilia. Anybody "in the pool" can pretty much forget about working for SkyWest in the near future. Oh and those who commute on United better be doing it incognito come august. It sucks, but that's what we get for being United's biatch.

Delta is thinning the herd. The game of musical chairs just lost three participants. This merger gets more interesting by the day.
The sad thing is we are all going to lose in this. Those who survive will just get beaten that much more.
Unfortunatly that is true. Delta and Skywest are helping us more than our own union. However, I am not ready to throw out this union untill another comes along offering more. We need protection in this industry.
Joe as much as you are gonna hate this, if Obama wins the election and places his cabinet in place, you will see an ALPA single carrier petition filed. And I will bet it gets passed to set the airline industry tone. If Mcgoober gets elected(and doesn't die of old age), we are skrewed. He hates airline pilots worse than NVA prison guards, prepare to see anybody who isn't a US citizen, flying your wheedwacker. We have a chance to do what ALPA can't seem to do.....A single list at Skywest Inc....and this could be the start of it.....

If Skywest were to furlough while shifting airplanes to ASA....Those pilots need to be put on the ASA list....There is absolutely no reason to furlough at one while expanding the other....ALPA or no ALPA...that isn't right....

Last week I flew on Express Jet for the first time. Also flew on the E145 for the first time and had very low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Quality operation. Best of luck to everyone affected by this announcement.

Since Delta is cutting capacity, I would guess not all the flying will be replaced. Delta may cut some of the current SkyWest flying and replace it with some of this LAX flying, to keep them above the minimum stated on the contract. So nno or very little net gain.
I can't believe no one has said it.... Mesa Sucks!!! Woohooo! Sorry to the guys/gals at XJT. You help run a quality ship.

Let's not forget that XJT replaced ASA in LAX and Skywest in SLC....XJT underbid Skywest for the flying.....Welcome to RFPs and bidding...Hopefully some or all of this will come back to Skywest Inc.
Are you sure XJT UNDERBID SkyWest for that flying? If I remember correctly, SKY was prohibited from flying anything but UAX out LAX, at that time.
They underbid Skywest INC....Skywest was using ASA to do the flying....Skywest could do the flying with ASA at the time...The XJT bid was low....Jerry doesn't get flying just to get flying.....it has to make sense financially....
Source?
SKYW investor conference call.
So the SKYW investors had inside details as to how much XJT bid? You trust something like that from an investor call?
From the XJT press release today....
"With the losses we were experiencing from our Delta pro-rate flying combined with our ability to return aircraft to the lessor, this termination of service is in the best interest of our company," said Jim Ream, ExpressJet president and chief executive officer.
Jerry would have never done this deal on a "pro-rate" basis....It's a money loser....XJT did it to keep the planes flying that it lost from CAL....better to lose less money with a pro-rate deal with DAL then to park the airplanes....
Jerry doesn't sign money losing deals....XJT low balled the RFP.....
We know ASA, Skywest and Comair aren't going anywhere. My guess on the 4th would republic. They have had a quality product, for the most part, since day one of the delta operation.
Its sad to read these pathetic remarks about who is going to pick up this flying. What a bunch of vultures you are. It should be a sad day for us all to see the best paid pilots in our segment of the industry taking a blow like this. Its no wonder we all work for the pitiful scraps left behind in the wake of industry turmoil.
