"With the losses we were experiencing from our Delta pro-rate flying combined with our ability to return aircraft to the lessor, this termination of service is in the best interest of our company," said Jim Ream, ExpressJet president and chief executive officer.

Jerry would have never done this deal on a "pro-rate" basis....It's a money loser....XJT did it to keep the planes flying that it lost from CAL....better to lose less money with a pro-rate deal with DAL then to park the airplanes....

Jerry doesn't sign money losing deals....XJT low balled the RFP.....

Yep, but the FACT is, when this deal first came out with the initial 10 aircraft, it was a CPA deal ONLY. The pro rate came later, after it was signed.

Joe as much as you are gonna hate this, if Obama wins the election and places his cabinet in place, you will see an ALPA single carrier petition filed. And I will bet it gets passed to set the airline industry tone. If Mcgoober gets elected(and doesn't die of old age), we are skrewed. Seriously though, to the XJT people, hopefully nobody tied down roots too much in LAX and maybe the airplanes will find home with United or whoever else has RFPs out currently.

Well, you never know. The July issue of Air Transport world (sorry I don't know how to copy it for this post), anyway in the world airline report, it has a small article about Skywest Inc. It says that in Dec,. 2007 Skywest ordered 18 CRJ700 New Generation aircraft and 4 CRJ 900 NG, plus 22 options. The 700's will be flown for United Express by Skywest and the 4 900's will be flown for Delta Connection by ASA.

True? I have no idea. As with everything else in this industry, don't believe it until you see it.

You do realize that post merger PCL still has a sizeable crj fleet that will one day be painted in Delta colors, right?

I was just speaking about the Delta side of things. (Hence the "Delta is thinning the herd..." part.)

I think it is going to continue it a big way. Will there be 50-seaters in Delta colors flown by Pinnacle? You hope.

Just like I hope the Mesaba planes keep flying. And the Compass pilots hope they have jobs. And ASA, and SkyWest...

All I'm saying is that they are already lowering the number of operators. Nothing is for sure going forward and no operator is safe. I'm not drinking management kool-aid, either. This is just the reality we are all facing.

Richard Anderson was on CNBC days after the Pinnacle announcement came out. The interviewer, can't remember who, specifically asked about terminating the 9E contract, to which Anderson said "we have plenty of capacity even without Pinnacle."

It's safe to say that no one is safe.

Delta and NWA know exactly what they are going to do. Most of the players probably do as well. How ever to keep things going until the 11th hour they will play their cards close to the vest. Take note so far only one player has folded, everyone else is just dropping and picking up cards. Any one who thinks they are the one to stay is foolish. Only Delta has that answer.

Anderson knows exactly what he is going. I wouldn't feel very comfortable at any airline that isn't wholly owned. How much did skywest pay for ASA. I think delta took good old jerry for a couple 100 mil or so. Neither skywest or asa will gain anything but comair, compass or mesaba will have the net gain. Maybe not in LA or SLC but in the total delta picture. Thats how anderson plays the game. He is in control and wants total control.
