General,
Don't get me wrong. I would love to see the furloughs flying Delta Colors of any type. I just don't see it as a realistic possibility. You can build great scenarios but in the end, if they cost the company money, it probably won't happen. While most of the junior pilots on our list are willing do just about anything to protect those furloughed, there are many at the top of our list that a griping about the Cobra assessments. I have flown with more than one Capt who is ready to give the no furlough clause to the company as a concession. If fact, a Capt I recently flew with told me that whatever productivity increases we gave were fine, but he would not take a pay cut that might hurt is FAE.
He said, "You young guys can get the concessions back in the next contract. You have to watch out for those of us near retirement. We won't have that option."
The point I'm trying to make is there are many on the list with different priorities. Don't think that eveyone cares about the furloughs. Many near retirement ONLY care about FAE and will do anything to protect it. Not my view but what I often have to listen to on transcon flights.

PS. Productivity improvements don't save the company any money if they still have the same number of pilots on the payroll. Food for Thought
Don't shoot the messenger..but this is why I don't see it realistically happening.
