With any luck, yes.

I guess your going to deny me a Jumpseat to? Chances are you have never even heard of my company. Your comment was arrogant, ignorant and shows the problem with the "modern" airline pilot. Sorry, but you don't have to be ALPA to be a pilot. I'm not saying that ALPA hasn't helped with some things but wow man. I guess those guys over at UPS, Jet Blue, and Net Jets have it really tough without ALPA.

Not at all. I'd never turn this into a jumpseat war. But how about this angle, my dues paid for the lawyers to work on this and it wasn't free. Non-union pilots are riding the coat tails of the dues paying union pilot, so yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing you guys have to go thru security!

How about this "angle"...I get furloughed from a dues paying airline after 20 yrs and get a job with JB, AT, SWA or any of the others which don't happen to be ALPA? So I am "riding your coat tails" now??? So TSA is now going to ask for a union card before they decide wether to screen us or not??? "Union guys and gals, right this way, keep moving, no stopping for you!!" "What? No union card? Ok right over here for additional screening and, oh by the way, "Retard" says no Jumpseat for you". Is that a question you are going to ask someone asking for a J/S to go home after a long 4 day? "Did you get additional screening because, well your airline is non-union you know"

Your post rates right up there with the other low time, first airline job, just upgraded to captain, clueless kids.
Someone needs to "Smack" this "tard" but good.

It appears that I forgot the <sarcasm> tags in my post. But for you, and your special case, we'll throw this caveat in there, if you were ever an ALPA dues paying member, you can get in on the action. Otherwise, forget it, you guys go thru security (you can still cut to the front of the line).

Oh, and thanks for putting me in my place, I needed that, and better you than the General.

Anywhere warm please. I see your point, but I also think that the the US taxpayer will actually end up being the one paying for the system. As a poster said before, "No, but you can thank a ALPA member for it." I don't have any problem saying thank you. Maybe your sarcasm was missed, it's very easy to do on the internet.

It's done. Thanks for the link. This is important for EVERY commercial pilot, especially those that fly 121 and Fractional.

Hi!

Thanx 4 the link. Sent it off.

Bump. Everyone needs to do this. I have been impatiently waiting for them to get this thing implemented ever since they announced it last year. TSA security screening is one of the worst parts of my job and the sooner we can do away with it the better.

P.S. Mods can we make this a sticky?

Ask and you shall receive.

I posted my thread in the Majors section as well the post was deleted. I know the board does not really allow double posting, but I believe this affects us all and the more people we can get to voice our concerns as pilots, the better it might be for all of us. Anyway to post this in other areas or make it a sticky there as well, especially in the Majors section?

Took care of that.

TSA Plans for CrewPASS Demonstration Project
ALPA meets with TSA

March 31, 2008 - The full-page ad in USAToday and CrewPASS informational picketing last week at DCA and TSA Headquarters appear to have had a positive effect.
Capt. Prater received a phone call from John P. Sammon, Assistant Administrator, Transportation Sector Network Management (TSNM), TSA, earlier this week to talk about the next steps towards development of CrewPASS, an ALPA-conceived proposal that would expand upon TSA’s successful CASS program to expedite pilots through security checkpoints. Sammon called at the direction of Kip Hawley, TSA Administrator.
During the call, Sammon informed Prater that a former airline pilot, who now works for TSA as a Federal Security Director, has been identified as the CrewPASS point of contact and will develop a concept of operations plan for CrewPASS. ALPA’s National Security Committee Chairman, Capt. Bob Hesselbein (NWA) and staff met with TSNM group representatives today at TSA’s invitation to discuss that plan’s development. Capt. Hesselbein made it clear that ALPA wants CrewPASS to be developed expeditiously and that the Association is willing to partner with the TSA to help make a demonstration project a reality in the near term.
TSA representatives verbally agreed to ALPA’s offer of partnership and noted that the agency’s highest levels are now engaged in the project, and that it is moving quickly within the TSA. A CrewPASS demonstration program may begin possibly in the next several months depending on the equipment and procedures used for it. ALPA met with ChoicePoint, a TSA contractor, and ARINC, the airline’s CASS program contractor, earlier this week to discuss the potential use of a biometric reader component to CrewPASS for additional security and efficiency.
ALPA informed TSA that it intends to frequently update its membership on the progress being made on the CrewPASS initiative, or lack of same if that is the case. Although ALPA is cautiously optimistic that today’s meeting signals the first steps of the implementation of the long-awaited CrewPASS system, Capt. Prater remains determined to keep pressure on the federal government to ensure that ALPA’s goals are met in a timely fashion. ALPA has issued a Call to Action to all its pilots and recommends that they help generate maximum pressure on the TSA to implement CrewPASS through their elected representatives. Stay tuned.
