First of all, WTF is a "contract" pilot????

NBC 11Alive news in Atlanta reported that the rape of a 16 year old passenger occurred in a secured stairway in Concourse C by a "contract" pilot. Although it's not reported as such on-line, it was reported as such during the 11 o'clock news.

Watching the initial coverage, I was stumped when the guy was referred to as a "Freelance Airline Pilot".

Sounds like he was commuting to a job in Ohio. Per the FAA database, he's got an ATP with CE-525 and Lear Jet type ratings as well.
