My flying buddy and myself ended a trip... ran to the gate...(both commute to the same city) trying to get home... and the jetway was still pulled up... exactly 10 minutes prior to scheduled push... the agent said well.. if the Capt wants the jetway pulled up its ok with me.... wink and nod...only booked to 81 pax ... So what happens next blows me away...

The Capt looks at me ... looks at his watch and released the brakes and pushed ? WTFO... ? He clearly saw us ... gave us the oh well look and basically thumbed his nose at us !!! I am not fibbing on the push time... at all.... 5 minutes well I can sorta kinda understand... BUT 10 !!!

So where do I go next... I need someone to PM me the jumpseat chair for AAI... please... I know the CPO cant and wont do anything... This is strictly a union culture 'thang' as best I can understand it...

We are not running an airline for commuters.. I fully understand that. But c'mon guys... Heck I have and alot of us have put last minute paying pax on ... and still made schedule... safely !!!

Comments pleez...

That really sucks. I know a lot of guys who would gladly take a delay to get a fellow pilot on board...me being one of 'em. That was a chincy thing to do...

our pro standards wont take care of it.... thanks for listening... I'll call anyway... for grins.

I just cant stomach he left a fellow company pilot.... actually two fellow pilots..

I can beat that. Just a couple of weeks ago I walked up to the gate 30 minutes before departure I was stunned to see them pushing back the jetway!!! After waving my arms and flailing my coat through the window I finally got someone's attention and the gate agent came back up and escorted me down and I got on the plane. There were only 11 people and I can understand wanting to leave early.. but 30 minutes??

Take the next flight. Simple as that.
Amazing how people pay $0.00 for their "ticket" and complain when they don't get on.

C'mon man, do you commute? It just sucks to be left there at the gate when you have done everything you can to catch the last flight home, and have probably helped some other commuter from another airline out during your 4 day trip.

I think he's pissed off because he knows he had pleanty of time to grab a seat.

However, the CA of the other airline may have left early to get a seat on his commute.

Free seat or not, people just want to get home for the whole 2 days. You can't blame a person for being upset, especially if he wrote this the day of or the day after.

Just a thought but it sounds as if was actually the gate agent who didn't want to put the jetway back to the plane.

I've had this happen at my previous carrier; you see a passenger in the window and you're 10 minutes or so early and suggest to the gate/ops you want to reconnect the jetway to get the pax on. The response from the gate agent is usually OK but on several occasions they refuse! We try to reason, beg and plead with them and they still refuse!

I am absolutely positive the gate agent will go up the jetway and tell the passenger that it was the Captain who elected NOT to pull the jetway back up and leave early.

You are missing the point.... what happened to helping out and going that extra mile to help a fellow airman ? More importantly a fellow company ?

Take your free ride comments and stick it... yea we took the next flight (hours later) and missed more time at home ...

Sorry... not taking us... when you can still push on time ... is unsat... period...

The agent was more than happy to pull the jetway back up and in fact had the key on expecting the capt to wave him in ... or pop the window for a chat.....
