Hey NEDUDE

Just curious, were you JUST interviewed for the class or have you been waiting for a while?? Also, if you were just interviewed, could you update the gouge? The last one is from 2001 and a little outdated. If you do and I get hired I'll buy the first round. snine3departure would probably appreciate too!!
 
I was a Commutair pilot who was furloughed back in August. Get to go back for the March 25th class. No recent interview experience. But if it was like it was a year ago, it was fairly straight forward. Reg test, a computer eval (like a pyschological, skills type of test) and an interview with the CP and some others. They treat you well and are genuinely nice people. No games, intimidation or any other weird stuff like at other carriers.

Basically my interview experience from start to finish was great. And I do mean the very start. The Commutair crew I rode to the interview with, when they found out I was headed for the interview, had me come up and sit in the cockpit while we were on the ground in ALB. On the way home had a long layover in ALB again and the crew (a different one) convinced the gate agent to let me hang out in the crew lounge for a few hours.

It may not be RJs and "glamour" , but I had fun when I was there and like I said, I can't wait to get back.

Jaymac, good luck when the interview comes. Hopefully I'll see you on the line soon.

Well, at least it wasn't just me! I got the same call, interviewing for the May 13th class - expect a call some time in April. Argh. Ah, well. More of chance for me to study up on things!

Hang in there, we're losing guys left and right to mainly Airtran, Execjet or other Regionals..(myself to Comair..Stoked!!)
Commutair is a great company to gain a ton of quality experience.
( we just hand flew an approach to 100' above touchdown in 1800RVR last week...good times!!)
They are gaining A/C and destinations. Its just a big clusterf^&& now because evcerything is happening so fast up in the Burgh.

I interviewed over a year ago but the gouge is pretty much the standard.(from both aviationinterviews.com and willflyforfood).

Heres what I remember:

The ATP type test is pretty much straight forward. I had never opened an ATP written and passed.. But its your typical written w/ 50 questions I believe althou it may have been 35 quest.?

The interview was relaxed..read a metar/taf..(back then it was Elmira but since we don't go there anymore it may have changed) no tricky stuff..there may have been a minus degree temp? Also an "AO2" for the precipitation discriminator.

Brief an approach from Jepps.... It was an ILS into Roanoke,VA I believe, again no tricky stuff involved..Also in my interveiw they said that I was holding as published (procedure turn) on an NDB approach and cleared for the approach...do I have to continue the complete hold or can I head straight for the NDB and procede inbound...?

Know the airplane your flying of course..speeds, engine, crit. engine, Horses under the hood, weights, fuel stuff..not all of this was coivered but its good to have it just in case...

They go through your logbook and look for your checkrides, typical HR stuff...why do you want to work here, how will you survive on the pay, your interests, etc..

I didn't have to do the computer test (wonderlick test I think its called) but I did one at another airline and it is pretty fun, don't worry about that thing..

These guys are really nice at the interview, they don't make you doubt yourself at all, and if you get something wrong they tell you " well actually this is the answer" ..But there nice about it.. atleast they were in my interview..Don't be cocky..I heard that one time an F.O. came up from Gulfstream thinking that he was a shoe in and the interview was just a formality...they denied him pretty hard.

Thats about all I can remember, but again the other gouge you've seen is or was pretty accurate..Hopefully someone will post the latest before your interview.

Its a small place but a great company and an awesome plane to fly..good luck
