Mesa to Comair??

I'm debating leaving Mesa for Comair...

I'm FO with 6mo senority, so I won't lose much, but not sure what to do. I know QOL will be 10x better..

I had to resign because I could not afford to work as a regional FO any longer. I was going on 4 years, my pay was $38.33 an hour as a professional airline pilot. Is it just me or is that a pathetic wage? I could not hang on any longer. As for DrProc, this is not flame. This is an honest answer for a guy that has asked about a career decision. I would like him to know what he is getting into.

You couldn't afford to live on $34497 base pay? Why not? I have lived on considerably less. It's all in the choices you make.

It may not be about what one earns, but what one is capable of earning elsewhere. If you continue to work for an employer who pays you less than what you can earn elsewhere, you're throwing away money.

I just saw a government statistic that showed the median income for a bachelor's-degree-holding employee at around $48,000 annually.

And according to Forbes, we have a median income of over $120,000 a year. I don't know how many people really buy into that.

Congratulations, Riddle. Good luck in training if you decide to take the job.

Anyone know what the upcoming class dates are. I have an interview with them and would like to know.

Thanks for the quick reply. Helps me decide what day I want to interview. Is CVG possible to get out of training. I know reserve is long there, but works beter for me.

Congrats to those who've been offered. Anyone have any idea as to what bases are jr/sr? Was curious about the GSO base in particular.

Jfk is most junior followed by CVG. Reserve in CVG is long and fluctuates alot. Some 2 year poeple have lines in the summer and then find themselves on reserve in the winter.

GSO is kinda a middle base. We haven't had a bid in a couple months but the guys there on reserve are fairly junior. It is possible to get it, as long as things stay the same or get better

I know there is a Nov 20th and Dec 7th

I know people this summer got it out of training and the bid packets have new hires based in CVG.

I was told by a Chief Pilot last week that the last class that came online was JFK based , but they got CVG the next month.

You can always ask the interviewer. Not sure what they are telling people.

We are actually getting a decent number of new hire FOs in GSO in the next month or two, so it is possible to get based there out of training. When I interviewed I was asked what my base preference would be. My class had a majority of pilots going to the base I wanted, so it's possible that the company will try to get you in a class with openings in the base you want. No guarantees though.

Yeah, I would be also interested to commute to the Junior bases from Tampa.

How are the trips in general? Very early show on 1st day, and late on last day?

Thanks a lot guys

December 7th is a thursday? Are you sure it isnt the 4th??

I'm pretty positive that's what Laurie told me. When she said it to me I thought to myself "Great, starting class on the 65th anniversary of Pearl Harbor"

Someone had said that they'll be hiring through Jan, so w/ these class dates does this mean dont bother applying now? It would seem that if I get an interview now or hired, there wont be much hiring after that and therefore can enjoy reserve for quite some time. Also, I'm currently F/O at a small 135 outfit getting some SIC Jet w/ around 1200TT/500 ME...is it worth a jump to CMR? I'd really like to get out of where I am. believe it or not.

Congrats to all of you who have gotten the call!!! I hope I'll be following you guys very shortly, I just need to get some more multi time.

Also, thanks to imacdog and wmuflyguy for your info and advice.

For those of you that got the call, did you do the ATP written before applying and/or interviewing? On the Comair website it looks like they require it, but I don't know if that's a hard requirement. I will start studying it regardless since it's can't hurt, but I just wanted to know if you guys had already done it prior.

I think they accepted my dispatch license as my ATP written.
They don't require the Restricted Radio ticket or Passport for the interview, but it's required for employment
