My 9/12/05 newhire class at Comair was cancelled due to the Delta filing, and I know that some recalling has begun for the 100 or so furloughed (attrition/increase in spring schedules, I assume). M.G. in H.R. has said that I would be recalled with a class date when appropriate, but I have a few questions for those "in the know", or at least "of the opinion":

1) What are the future prospects of Comair (stability/growth) with the new contract?

2) Can they compete with SkyWest/Mesa/Republic for Delta flying?

3) Will the fleet shrink/grow with 50/70/90 seat aircraft?

4) Do you think that Comair will be sold? If so, to whom?

5) Do you think Delta will wither/thrive/merge?

Any info or educated vibes is/are welcome, especially from Comair pilots. I am a refugee Independence Air pilot with wife and kids and am trying to avoid bouncing around from the bottom of one regional airline seniority list to another (as much as is possible). Comair seemed a good fit for many reasons, including the fact that I am from Dayton and a CVG base would keep us close to family. Thanks for any and all input/insight.

I wish I had some answers for you, but Delta is one massive train wreck, and comair is hooked right on to it.
Who knows what is going to happen, Comair use to be a great place to work, but other regionals (and 17 d!ckheads who voted YES) took care of that for us.
I guess all I can tell you about Comair at the moment is "No News Is Good News".

Good luck to you and your family.

I am one of the pilots who was furloughed, and am being recalled. I am taking the recall because 1) there are cerainly worse places to be than Comair, and 2) I believe the worst part may be behind us. I don't know either of those for certain, and I do have my resume out at some places that I would consider a step up from Comair (none of them are regionals). CVG right now is more senior than JFK or GSO, but by the time you are called for class things may have changed. Good luck.

Airhermit,

If you, somehow, get an answer to any one of your questions, please let all of us know, cause right now there are just no answers.

Just want to know if they still have the MCO base, or did that close when Freedom came in?

When does anyone expect the Delta process to sort out the regional flying? I already went through this with the United bankruptcy, and it took awhile for all of the bidders to settle who got to fly the big shiny Barbie-Jets for Ramen noodles and Kool-Aid.
