I hope there's a place, way up in the sky
Where pilots can go when they have to die.
A place where a guy could buy a cold beer
For a friend and a comrade whose memory is dear.
A place where no doctor or lawyer could tread,
Nor a management-type would e'ler be caught dead!
Just a quaint little place, kind of dark, full of smoke,
Where they like to sing loud, and love a good joke.
The kind of a place that a lady could go
And feel safe and secure by the men she would know.

There must be a place where old pilots go,
When their wings become heavy, when their airspeed gets low,
Where the whiskey is old, and the women are young,
And songs about flying and dying are sung.
Where you'd see all the fellows who'd 'flown west' before,
And they'd call out your name, as you came through the door,
Who would buy you a drink, if your thirst should be bad,
And relate to the others, "He was quite a good lad!"

And there, through the mist, you'd spot an old guy
You had not seen in years, though he'd taught you to fly.
He'd nod his old head, and grin ear to ear
And say, "Welcome, my Son, I'm proud that you're here!
For this is the place where true flyers come
When the battles are over, and the wars have been won.
They've come here at last, to be safe and alone,
From the government clerk, and the management clone,
Politicians and lawyers, the Feds, and the noise,
Where all hours are happy, and these good ol' boys
Can relax with a cool one, and a well deserved rest!
This is Heaven, my Son. You've passed your last test!"

— Captain Michael J. Larkin, TWA (Ret.).

Seconded.

Thank you for starting this new thread. I have been looking at this the last two days, wondering if I was mistaken and still asleep. Unfortunately our new reality has shaken us all to our core. Yesterday my girlfriend and I prayed for those who have been touched by this event. We prayed that grace and peace would be found for all during these days and months to follow. God Bless.

Fear not

FEAR NOT
(Lisbeth Scott, lyrics)
vocals: Lisbeth Scott piano: Paul Schwartz

Fear not, my child
The time has come
To travel with
The setting sun

Fear not, my love
For heaven sings
A sweeter song
Than any earthly light could bring

And in her hands
You are the dawn
And in her heart
And in her soul
We all belong

Upon her grace
Time shall dissolve
The darkest night
Shall safely fall

Fear not my child
The greatest love
Shall hold you soft
As day's first light melts from above

Fear not, my child
Forever stays
Beside you now
And you shall always be with me

...to hear this beautiful song.

This song found me today as I prayed for the souls of those on board 5191. May flights of angels sing them to their rest.

May the families, friends and colleagues of those lost find peace in their hearts, and may God richly bless them in this time of grief and sorrow.

From our Chautauqua Family to yours please accept our deepest sympathies and condolences we are,to a man quite numbed by the news.

From the freightdog side, I'd like to add my thoughts and prayers too. It's a sad time now in aviation with the loss of crew and passengers.

...

I am Ex-TWA (forever TWA) but I knew no less than 10 people on 800. I miss the ones that I knew and I still think about the ones that I never knew. It does get easier, but we must learn to not repeat mistakes, and fix what we can.

I am proud to be an aviator, and I promise to those that count on me, that I will take the lessons of those aviators before me, and make them proud!

Well said.

May the peace of God with surpasses all understanding find those of you that grieve today.

Those of us on the Corporate Aviation side are thinking of and praying for those that have lost loved ones on 5191.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the losses. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Gone but not forgotten. God bless.

May they all rest in peace, and may God bless their families - the ones who are suffering the most. F/O James, be strong and pull through, bro. To all Comair employees, my deepest and most sincere condolences. 73

Such a sad, sad loss. To all those in the Comair family, and the families of the passengers, this Horizon pilot hopes that you can find some solace in your grief, and that time will heal your wounds.

May your loved ones rest in peace.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
