Since everyone likes to speculate on where Freedom's 900s are going, maybe you can all take a shot at where comair's 700 and 900s will go once comair disapears in 2009.

Source? Are you a Mesa pilot that's a little bitter? Management types have told us once the legal stuff is taken care of, Comair WILL grow again and the United flying is going to us too, just waiting on the Mesa mess.

Maybe you should find out where freedoms' a/c are going once J. O. closes shop.

Someone's been drinking the bong water again........

Management Types? Definitely a reliable source! Comair, Grow? Hard to imagine those two words ever going together.
Comair could very well be gone by the time United ever awards this supposed rfp. Even if Comair survives I would take about any bet that you will never see a comair airplane painted in united colors....unless it is a former comair aircraft flown by a different airline.
Keep looking forward to that growth.
By the way more furloughs in January are likely.

Yea that is why the DO said in RG 3 days ago that more layoffs likely 1Q '09.

puff puff pass...

Ummm, I don't think that United would hire a company that's wholy owned by the competition? But then again it is united... HAVEFUN@!

well they just posted an announcement about additional downgrades of CA and 70/90 FO's. Good times at comair.

We can only hope that it is just downgrades. Watch them do something like move the 700/900s to JFK. Better yet, watch them get rid of our 700/900s all together. The notice said CVG and JFK Captains and 700/900 FOs. That could include all 700/900 pilots. JFK Captains would then be affected, because they would all be displaced back to FOs.

Unofficial word from the MEC is 60 additional furloughs in Jan or as Phill likes to put it "throw out like trash". DS wants the 75 hr min line MOU extended and rightfully so the MEC isn't budging and telling him to pound sand. Guess we'll find out next Mon.

So I wonder if our management is that incompetent(sp) that they can't figure out crew/aircraft ratios, or if we are losing more airplanes.

Lots of junior captains that once were based in JFK or moving down into the right seat of the 700/900 because they don't want to go back to JFK. If they are still talking about moving the min line value lower then I definitely see more junior CVG captains bidding back to FO in CVG to avoid JFK for an undetermined time period.

I don't see the min line going back. F that, and I would be one of the beneficiaries of that as I am sure to be displaced again. But I still disagree with giving one inch on line values as we did before and still got jacked.

I have been in CVG on reserve for 5-1/2 years, so I will probably be heading back to the 700 but will either do one days or be the most Sr LC2 and not fly.

EMB FO - CRJ FO - EMB CA - CRJ FO - CRJ CA - CR70 FO - CRJ CA and now back to CR70 FO.

Well, on the bright side - the vacation award that was all F Uped is moot now. :)

Heard the more furloughs rumor and saw the displacement, sorry guys, I guess the bong water got to me.

Hahaha.

You're too funny if you think you can hold one day trips in the 700/900...have you actually checked the bid packet lately?!?!

With your seniority and previous displacements, you'll be lucky to hold a line!

What I find odd is that the announcement made sure to say that the bid affects only 50-seat CAs and 70-seat FOs. How can any displacement not affect everyone at least in some way?

Comair is hurting so bad that they cancelled the luncheon. They can't even afford to hand out free pizza.

I think that had more to do with embarrassingly few RSVPs.

Actually, yes I checked the Nov lines. I would be currently bidding #4 in the 70 (I am low #16XXX). There are several way Jr that are currently holding one days.

The junior (or senior for that matter) 70/90 captains will not be effected by this bid.

Theorically, you may find 70/90 FOs more senior than the junior 70/90 captains depending on the choices of the displaced CRJ CVG captains.

Theory doesn't work very well at Comair.

So yes, I guarantee the Jr 70/90 CAs will be effected by this because I know that at least one of them will be displaced if I am displaced. I am Sr to some of them and can/will boot them from their seat.

I guess it all depends on the displacement Mon.

I'm starting to think that one of two things will happen to us in 2009.

1. We'll be shut down.

or

2. The entire operation will be moved to JFK.

Makes you wonder with the Mesaba, Compass and Pinnacle getting ALL the new flying for Delta and Comair not getting ANYTHING.

I think the rumors, which is becoming more and more frequent about Comair becoming a ground services only company is true.

A former manager told a bunch of people this before he was let go. he said after the merger, Comair was done. The United stuff is a wet dream and if Mesa goes under don't expect Comair to get it. I don't pay attention to rumors, but with events unfolding the way they are, you wonder.......is this it for Comair?

ANYTHING.

Mesaba pilots were led to believe the same thing we Mesaba was bidding all the nwe Ground RFP's

Just a game MGT plays...

Stay strong

Comair and ASA = Out.

Pinnacle, Compass and Mesaba = In.

Is anybody surprised by this? Anderson used to run NWA, and has strong ties and loyalties to the guys running the Airlink carriers. Croneyism at it's finest. WHat ties does he have to any of the DCI carriers? We all are, after all, too dang expensive. Out with the old, in with the new.

I have never been one to believe all the doom and gloom at Comair but these recent events are starting to make me a believer.

It will be pretty tough to get a new flying job in these current economic times. Sure, Mesaba is hiring at $24000 a year. Thats $12 dollars and hour at a 40 hour a work week job! Holy S***, why did I go to college, go to flight school, move back and forth across the country a half dozen times to be away from everyone I have ever known including my family?!? For $12 dollars an effin hour. Flying is not worth this BS.

The pathetic part is that as a college grad with a Finance Degree I am worried about trying to replace my piece of s*** job making $45000 a year. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this career to be so bad.

Sorry about the rant but I just needed to vent.

P.S. COMAIR (not Mesa) SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comair is done. More furloughs, no a/c awards, and this Mesaba taking Comairs' a/c.

Last one leaving turn out the lights.

If this place sinks, we should get all of the pilots together for a press conference at the lookout next to 18L and tell the public why the once most profitable airline in the world was dismantled. Over 1000 pilots with Soap on a Rope around our knecks.

They don't care.

ASA has a contract with definitive aircraft and flying minimums. Comair doesn't. When ASA(or Skywest Inc I should say) and Delta are in court about breaching contract, then you can use this arguement. Stop dooming and glooming...
