After reading the most recent Colgan Aviation Interview it doesn't sound too promising to those who haven't heard any news yet.

Ailerongirl,

Have you worked for Colgan?
I have not met but great people who work for the company. I can't yet tell about the MX, rumors are rumors, and with that stated the perpetuation of Colgan as a "bad" company just sucks. What about other companies- do they suck?

I find the training to be great, the people are nice and the pay is congruent with the industry.

Every company has MX issues, and yes every company at one point has had an accident and or incident corresponding to MX problems.

I don't mean to rant, and true most of you who have worked at Colgan know more than me at this point, but I think so far its a great company.

As for the desperate comment by that guy/gal regarding Colgan, I think he/she was way out of line. Pilots like him are some snot nosed little pukes who probably rode on in on his pop's dollar and bought his/her way into that nice RJ.

Just my thoughts.

I'd just like to make clear that I never said anything against the people that work for Colgan...I have nothing but the highest respect for them.

I do however stand by my comments about Colgan mx which,as most of you know by now stem from the accident that killed Steve Dean and Scott Knabe 2 years ago.

I hope that your time at Colgan is a happy one, and that you are safe. As I tell everyone, just fly safe. I do wonder though how long it wil be before the rose covered glasses come off.

Took me until about the fifth ferry flight after I was "done" with my schedule that day.

Illdude, don't comment on what you don't know about. You may call it desperation, but if you keep your record clean (and you have to have some balls at times to do so there as noted by previous mx comments above), you will further your career through them, just like any regional.

Or you can take the road less traveled and become an outlaw cowboy!!!!!! I'm the quickest draw on the east coast system. Scoal rules!!!!! If you're gonna shoot from the hip, make sure your guns are loaded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll show you standard....."get me the USA Today and a sbarro box on the center console abnormal checklist"

Say what?! Sometimes I wonder about you, BRA... Must be all the PringPrang influence during your formative FO years. Here's a good one I'll never forget: "We don't need to deice. The 3 inches of snow that's completely covering the aircraft isn't adherring!"

The Prange Chronicles....

how about "tell them we have swede in sight"

or

pull ups under the jet way in your night shirt!!!

or

falling asleep at the ALG computer and having to climb over the fence to get out of the airport

ahh those were the days.....

Let's not forget....

So, who's the captain today

or

Watch this......followed by very large bird entering the engine

or

Sleeping in a tent at the PWM and/or BHB airports until getting escorted out by the airport police

or

ALL those early show times when the man stunk like he hadn't showered in months

or

walking around with FO garb on because he thought it would keep him out of trouble

or

walking into SYR ops during the winter with #2 spinning and the FO at the bottom of the stairs loading people..

OR

adding his sexton to the list of approved class 1 navigation aids

or (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE)

When his wife flies up to the PQI airport to surprise him and he's having a little fun with his girlfriend!!!

Honestly I wasn't even referencing cowboys of colgan's past. Dh82Dvr: you are pretty well read here, i wouldn't be suprised if i know you.

Ever hear something similar this one: "With all the critical illuminicents shut off in the cockpit after sun down, undaunted the first officer flew the six pack with flashlight in mouth, while the captain preceded to use his device of navigations glorious past, on a part 121 leg, with unsuspecting passengers"

Saddle up!

When his wife flies up to the PQI airport to surprise him and he's having a little fun with his girlfriend!!!

or, first time I flew with the wacko, pointing out a chick that he say's is hot (in his own way -- hmmm!) and she may have been 12.

or, personally seeing him takeoff from 4L in BOS as I was taxiing in, and see (no $hit) start a sharp left bank at 20-30 ft, only to return a few minutes later as he ingested a goose over the water and ruined the engine and nacelle. "Man, that sucks" I said while I see his fo shaking his head.

or, the 80 -90 kt turnoffs in SYR when I did TDY there and had the joy of flying on his plane.

or, going into AUG (as must-ride) and watching the most ridiculous approach I ever saw -- could go on and on.

A lot of us were cowboys at one time (summer 2003 changed me), he was the Space Cowboy (or spaced out). Anyone know where he's "camped out" these days?

I thought 12 was a little too old for his tastes.
