Checked out in BOS and sent to hotel. Told to show at 0700. Called me at 0400 and told me that they hadn't changed my show time and show at 0700.

Start using the F-word. No matter how pissed off they get, they can't touch you. Just tell them you'll be bringing an FAA Rep to the meeting.

does the FAA have anything to say about calling during a rest period?

simple, dont pick up your phone. If you have a set show time, then show at that time. And I believe that if you are called during you rrest period, then it begins all over again, at least it does where I work.

i think that is a work rule for your pilot group. not from the faa

This takes many at Colgan far too long to learn. While on duty, never call and try to solve problems. Pick up your phone when they call you. When you're done, check out with crew scheduling and don't pick up your phone until show time. Case closed.

Just do a good job while ON DUTY and you'll be fine at Colgan. Realize that on any given day you'll be working for 16 hours. But when you check out, don't pick up your phone until your next scheduled show. Otherwise you're being an enabler.

yea...you answer your phone and it's over, you're going whether you like it or not.
Does anyone else think that it is totaly ridiculous that crew scheduling has NO f*$king clue as to what is going on......I can't tell you how many times I have gotten info from them, built a plan on it, and then just happen to hear a PA, or glance at a departure screen, and realize they are full of sh^t!

they have no idea whether a flight is delayed, cancelled, changed to a repo or reinstated, honestly, besides hassle us into working on our days off, what do they do?

enabler.......I like that word. I'm going to change my voicemail to sound like they called somewhere official, like the local FSDO. I bet they won't leave messages anymore! I agree, I don't answer the phone anymore if I'm off duty....ever. It sucks that it has come to this, but they dug their own hole.

colgan isn't union and i tried to pull that "my rest starts over now" thing once. THen they pointed out in our fopp where it says that a call from company doesn't count as interupted rest. I answered the phone...... shame on me. Speaking of schedule changes, i just went on crewtrac and had like 20 notifications of schedule changes!!!!!!!!! MY entire month has been changed! I must be a semi-finalist for "doing tha colgan" this month!

You took the words out of my mouth. I called Lisa and asked if I pissed someone in scheduling off, she laughed and said 'no.' As I understand it, certain bases' flying is going to another base and visa versa. Do the dance!

You got that right.

The FOs that just went through recurrent last week said Chuck told them a min of 10 Saab 2000s are coming to the company in '07 to be flown for either CAL or Delta.

question is....do you believe it?

From FSDO on a recent checkride- company can call you once during rest... anymore calls after that and rest starts over.

Best bet is like the man says... duty off and don't answer the phone. Have the same problem here.

you're being an enabler. I LOVE IT! It is like AA gone wrong!
Another note, DONT CHECK CREW TRAC WHEN U GET HOME!!! They will automatically see you as notified even though you never accepted your new change, I did this once and got ropped into a BS broke azz day.
Phone off-when not working. When working-phone on. When working and not doing so well with the wife, phone off. Did not pay a bill, always phone off! I bought another phone and lowered my overall minutes on the cell so it is cheaper for me and safer. I should just spraypaint the cell phone red like the emergency phones you see in those whitehouse moives!

I don't really see what the problem is. I am blocked again over 95 hours for the month with no reserve days. I have never ever been called for Tdy or on a reserve day (only have had 4 of them). Nobody knows who the hell I am in the company. I haven't talked to crew scheduling (really nice people) in months. I never have a schedule change and have spent one day away from my base due to maintenance. Prop 2 Jet why are you starting complaint threads? I am sorry but this kind of negative company bashing is not going to go unoticed. I am sorry but your upgrade is now in question. I am calling the chief pilot to let him know of your negative thinking so he can have a talk with you. We are team there is no I in team. We are not getting any Saab 2000's they arent even certified in the US. I just got off the phone with the Chief he said nothing of the sort. I can confirm this however. 2 base closures to come in December CRW and I am not kidding MHT.

hahahah George you are too funny. Say you wanna start a company? I hear they are also closing PQI because the Canadians feel that they should have war reparations from back in the day! Also closing it because they have trouble running phone lines and power up there.....

Colgan put in a bid for Q400 flying for CAL. They will not have Saab 2000's, period. The US certification has been estimated at $10 mil and neither CAL nor Colgan nor Saab will foot that bill. The big stumbling block in regards to the Q400s is the $4 mil down that bombardier wants per aircraft (24 a/c total). No regional can afford that... CAL maybe.

I wouldn't say every regional.... we at AWAC have a cool 500+ million in US Air stock sitting around in addition to the usual coffers. That said, I have no idea if we bid on Continental flying.
