--(Rumorcontrol.com-Manassas, VA)--Colgan Kremlin Officially announces Colgan is now CASS...Also more Saabs coming

CASS-Colgan is now officially on CASS...Didn't you read the memos? There are still a few technical glitches but they should be fixed within the next week or 2. FYI, CASS is working great with USAirways. Be sure to bring your passport with you when ya JS. If anyone has any problems or successes with CASS, post it here so the rest of us will know.

More Saabs....3 are here (1 in HEF, 1 in BNA at Embraer, and 1 in IAH)
and are going thru Ops Specs/Conformity checks. They are slated to be on line when these checks are done soon. All 3 Saabs are straight B's and came from Mesaba/Pinnacle or the bank that owns them and will have 33 seats. The Freon A/C units are being yanked out to save on weight and other restrictions (Freon AC permits from EPA). All 3 new Saabs will be painted in Captain America colors. 2 will replace the remaining A's (35SZ and 121) with 1 as an operational spare.

This bank also has 7 more B model Saabs from Mesaba/Pinnacle and Colgan is seriously looking at closing the deal on obtaining those 7.

F.O. Pay...Sticky subject but no new news....The usual we're looking at it response.

New Hires/Upgrades....Hooray!!! With all these new birds coming upgrades will be fast in the coming months with no Street Captains to be hired. New hire F.O.s will continue in both planes. 10-12/month.

New Cities?...With Regions Air messing up things for PKB, CKB, MGW, Colgan has been contacted by these Airports and the DOT about possibly coming in with Saabs to run those cities. First though, THE DOT must put out a new Emergency RE-BID for those cities which anyone can bid on. Regions Air was mentioned that they would like to have a buyer but Colgan isn't interested. If Colgan gets these cities, they will either go to CLE (Continental) or IAD (United).

USAirways wants Colgan to look at some new routes starting in the Spring. Those new routes TBA early next year. Any speculation?

That's all from rumor control...anybody got anything to add?

Hello,
Not heard anything else beyond what you spoke of. However, it would seem that Colgan is in an excellent position to pick-up the Regions WV flying. The only sticking point would be having the crews to fly them. I don't know what the timetable would be, but bringing on 7 more airplanes plus the 50-60 odd pilots and 30 or so flight attendants would take some time.
At this point in time, Colgan has some options on the table for further, careful and measured expansion. Is the COEX flying the way that they want to use the readily available assests? ( 7 more SAAB 340Bs ). Or, would going for more UEX flying out of IAD be the better way to go. I think that the UEX flying offers more opportunity to have higher yeilds per seat mile than the WV stuff.
USAirways flying should NOT be expanded in the near future until the merger becomes complete (AWA/US), and Delta's lawyers have their day in court with USAirways lawyers to see if that is going to happen. Way too volitile to get into any expansion on the US side. Colgan would incur the costs and risks involved with any expansion into new bases. If Airways wants new routes, than it should involve using current assests and no futher airplanes. Perhaps more PIT flying? Maybe the Regions stuff going back to PIT with the SAAB flown by Colgan? ROA, LYH, SHD, BKW would all benefit by going to PIT instead of IAD in the case of the last two cities.
Interesting year ahead...In the meantime, it's back to flying in the hills.

I sent a bunch of resumes out today at about noon and they called me at 2 to set up an interview.
