Really I am not informed enought on this subject.

From what I gather we will just wind up buying a really expensive magazine subscription and pissing off management. I have not felt the need to have a union.

I think we are getting paid competitively with other turboprop flyers. Yeah second year FO pay sucks but they are working on that and have realized that.

Maybe if another people out there would give some good reasons why and how our lives at Colgan could be improved I would listen.

Why not educate yourself?

Browse the alpa.org website.
goto amazon.com and buy flying the line and hard landing

The cool thing about Colgan is Manassas is about an hours drive from Henrdon. Visit alpa and see for yourself what they are all about...

Then with an education.... choose.

Lets brake this ALPA thing down.

You said they improved your contact at your airline.
Its all about business, MONEY Look at US Airways.

You said they improve the image of the pilot.
Ads in the Atlanta paper help the Delta pilots reach their goals?

You said Medical assistance? Maybe

You said they lobby to keep the rest rules in place. (This is my favorite one)
WOW! 16 hour duty day!!!! 24 Hours in a day. From A/C to A/C

You said they improve airports,a/c,etc Sounds like a job for AOPA, FAA

You said they act as your Lawyer. Would ask for help or counsel? There is a difference.

ALPA does many great things, I would agree. Pilots need to start thinking in a business frame of mind. The airlines are to provide a service, Thats it!!! They try to help there employees but sometimes we need to help ourselfs. Colgan is a great company. The pilot understand what they give and what they get. Its very clear.

Most of us here have it pretty good. If you want me to be educated on the ALPA subject, then educate me. You're the one that wants my money. I'm not going to spend money being educated about something that I think doesn't need to be changed. As I asked before, what are you willing to give up to get what you want? Be specific.

P.S. Before anybody else brings it up, the answer is blue.
