At Flight Options you get 16 days of "Paid Time Off" each year (it adds up at 1 and a third day each month). You don't get sick days, PTO is used for both that and vacation. Once you have over thirty days in the bank you need to use or lose by the end of the year to get it under thirty. You can take either blocks of 4 or 8 days. If you take half a tour off it has to be the first or last half of an 8 day rotation, not the middle. So if you take 4 days you'll get an 11 day break, if you take the full tour you get 22 days in a row off. I think it goes up to 24 days a year after your fifth year, but I'm not sure about that one.

I think CS has more to offer because of quicker upgrades

Oh I've bitten my tongue too (look GSD, I spelled it again) long!

Never, ever take a flying job based on when you think you'll upgrade... NEVER...EVER!

wolfpackpilot, Life's a gamble and baby needs a new pair of shoes....
At my current job, i'd be doing myself more harm if i stayed.

kerosenesnorter, where are you working? Sounds like you and wrknstff
have got quite the platinum of vacations. Do any RVing/boating?

What's up chewy?

I agree, but I wanted to go to CS over NJ for a variety of reasons and upgrade time was one of them. NJ said 2-3 years but I think it is actually longer, CS said 12-15 months and it happened in 11.

Chewbacca........ I thought that you liked "small FUZZY mammals" AND Gladiator movies...?? Cant forget the Michale Bolton ties..!!

What are "Michael Bolton" ties? Wait, I think I asked that before. Still wondering where you heard the rumor that we were getting the X's, Chewy?

Upgrade at CS is very close to what they tell you it will be when you go into your interview. They told me 12-18 months, it happened in 11. Everyone in my class upgraded in 10-13 months. I can't think of anywhere else I could have gone where I would be making $70k+ after one year with a company. (this type of job anyway)

Currently they are telling new hires 18-24 months.

As far as vacation goes, yes CS isn't as generous with that yet compared to NJ. But hey, this company hasn't been around that long, we have plenty of time to improve on certain things, can't get it all at once. CS is a good company that takes care of their employees. I guarantee you'll like the job, good luck in the interview.

Thanks DBCooper. Wow, that much money in such a short period of time...
That is so great. From everyone I've talked with and heard from it sounds like
CS stands by their word. That's an admirable quality not found in too many places nowadays. Hopefully I'll be flyingh with you all real soon. Thanks again...

If it takes you 15 months to upgrade, you will be payed as a second year captain at 72K. Captain pay goes as such: 64k,72k,81k,91k,93k. for the first 5 years. Like I said before, pay is time with the company not time in seat. Plus, at 13 months you get second year pay and at 25 months you get third year pay and so on. Hope this helps.

I've been with CS for a while now and have never been treated poorly. I can see myself here for the duration.
