I'm flying the good ol' slowtations, and I love 'em.....I'm slower than $hit, stable, sipping fuel......and I'm home every night. The bigger the airplane, the bigger the suitcase. :)

I agree, easy to fly....yes. Slow...........yes, true about 420.

Why would I want to brag about commanding something that is hard to fly?

I'm past the "my plane is bigger than your plane" mentality.

I'd rather work less not more, for the same money.

Pay me 100K to fly a 172 and I'm there baby:-0

Try about 320kts for the old 500's. I have flown turboprops that would out run those things. The 550's and 560's are pretty nice though 360 to 420 depending on the model. Still a high altitude speedbump but does it's job well.

It really doesn't teach you much about flying jets, other than being jet powered it flies more like a King Air or other light twin.

However like you said, pay me 100k and I will fly most anything!!(except something that should be paying 150k!!!) :)

The CJ3 trues at around 420, right? That's still a Citation.

Encore's aren't bad performers, as are most 560's. 560's are about 100 knots faster than old 500's and 501's. 560's also will outclimb a lot of jets out there, if you fly the book you can get to the mid 40's in around 25 minutes. Realistically taking 8 pax at 420 knots for 4 1/2 hours at FL410, and landing on a 3500' runway, is pretty impressive. Having said that there's no way to get around that .74M is a high altitude speed bump.

I think being a capt in any turbine (or "light twin") at 24 is great.... I don't care what kind of plane it is.

Unless you're a passenger.

Hmmmmmm, I never seemed to have any complaints about my performance when I was an ATR Captain at the age of 24. Well, I did have some people leave the aircraft a few times stating I was way too young to be piloting "their" airplane.

560 slow? What about when you have to drive an hour because you can't get into a 3000' runway? What about when you need to go up? 1100+ fpm SE. It's all good as long as it's safe and pays the bills.
