How do the pilots at other airlines represented by Local 747 feel?

It seems the RAH/CHQ pilots don't feel they are getting their moneys worth and have started a movement to form a new IBT local or start a in-house union.

Thoughts?

I've been seeing stickers with a circle/slash over 747 that say "remove before flight." I was wondering what that was about. It's about time those wiseguys get tossed

I remember the nunsutch thing, too. Apparently if fizzled, but I got my $$ back.

Grumpy Old Men.

I thought that "thing" fizzled out. Is it still going?

On the subject of the union here, I never received the welcome package everyone else in my j4j class got so I haven't signed up yet. I'm told that they are going to have me fired if I don't join. It's not that I won't join, I will, but you'd think that if they want my $$ they'd atleast send me the info. Its not like I'm gonna seek them out to give them my $$ (for no return from what I'm told) on my own.

LearLove...if they don't sign you up they'll figure it out and send you a bill for what you owe from their mistake.

Same thing happened to me Lear. Took 'em about 6 months to track me down.

aren't they based in Indy? I thought Indiana was a right to work state where you can't be forced to join or pay for a union.

Yes, but you do have closed shop companies which is most of the airlines nowadays if not all of them.

Here's an Idea.....how about joining a pilot union? Afterall your nursing from the teet of ALPA for such things as the Political Action Committee. Why not start paying your share?

lol...alpa is so awesome. they've done such outstanding job for mesa, tsa, etal. chq tried to join alpa years ago but was denied to do not enough pilots.

I just got my bill in the mail yesterday saying that I owe those crooks $280.00. The company has been taking money out of my paychecks twice a month but apparently not sending it to Houston so to help pay for Sowell's new boat.

I think the services provided by IBT747 pretty much suck donkey balls, and do believe there is genuine corruption on the part of Bill Rainey. I looked at this months ALPA rag with a truly noble quote on the cover and great content on professionalism inside. Then I looked at the Teamster rag, inside which was glowing editorial on the representational victory at GeauxJets. Made me nauseous.

However the first letter in union is U. We make up the MEC or EXCO, we participate in committees, we volunteer. Without an active pilot group, it matters not what logo is on the flightbag sticker. You can't buy representation.

???

I didn't think Rainey was your business agent.

Your comment about pilot participation in the union is right on. Different unions have different strengths but without the pilot group behind it it's just another sticker on the flight bag.

Rainey is the GLA business agent down in HOU, don't know who the RAH agent is. Never returns phone calls, combative relationship with our EXCO chair, rumours of the Northwest flight attendants discovering corruption, not someone you want on your team.

Tiffany Moline is the RAH business agent. Her job is to tell us why she agrees with the company's indefinitely postponing greivance hearings and then sit there nodding and agreeing with the company "point-of-view" when our contract is repeatedly violated.
