For the furloughed pilots, we're glad to have you back.

Don't worry about not knowing procedures and the new SOPs. Although it would have been nice to get everyone back in the sim for an hour, I wouldn't stress over it. I spoke with one of our Check Airmen and they are aware of your situation. You'll be so lost your first day anyhow, you'll still be at the gate MCO and the Captain will be calling for the shutdown check in RDU.

When the jet first came on line a few years ago, there would be training backlogs because there weren't enough Check Airmen to go around. I had almost a month and a half between sim and doors training and then another month until IOE. After IOE I flew 3 days in the next 2 months because we had more than enough FOs to go around. The point...it's difficult, especially if it is your first airline, but you'll get through fine. Almost all the pilots at CHQ are great and are understanding.

The new SOPs are different, but mostly in the checklist items and how they are arranged. The flows for the most part are the same flows that have always been used. As far as learning the new procedures, the only thing they had us do was read it and take a test to send in. No formal training in recurrent or a separate class. You'll probably be flying with Captain's trying to learn them also. At least you don't have to break 4 years of reading and hearing the same checklist.

When you make it to the line for your first day of IOE, relax and enjoy it. You only get to experiance your first day once and you'll remember it forever. You'll be lost and feel like you've never stepped into an aircraft before. When the day is finally over, go have a refreshment and head off to bed. I'm sure you'll sleep better than you have in a long time. Good luck and we'll see you online.

So, I'm torn.

Not having seen any version of the POH for 3 months (by the 13th) nor having had the opportunity to jumpseat and observe, some time to do both (if not a sim) would be great. On the other hand, not having flown a real airplane since June, I'm chomping at the bit (passenger comfort be **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ed).

Like to hear from anybody who's been through the complete cut-off of furlough (or firing -- you guys were screwed) before ever putting the training to use.

Anyway, looking forward to it but have to go drive a bus to pay the bills; keep squawking the lack of wings on the pre-trip.

BD

CHQ pilot,

thanks thats what we needed to hear. Sometimes I forget how we have 100 hours to get it right. thats a good ammount of time to learn it and get it down. its hard to imagine 100 hours of time to do that after having only 40 in the box to cram it all in.

Good News

G. Santos is making phone calls!

Pushing up recall to November 4th. Couple days in IND going over new procedures and reviewing old followed by D&E, some CPT time, and immediate IOE (only enough to get at least 3 landings in though).

We'll be on payroll guarantee and will get time off, after the landings, to make arrangements in our assigned domiciles before getting back to work by (or before) December 1st.

See ya!

BD

P.S. Rob, don't let me forget to buy you a drink for all those great avatars and quotes!

does Gary always talk that fast on the phone? He must be Eastcoast posse. Sounded hurried, almost like they FORGOT we were about to expire in currency. At least I got an hour in a warrior in the meantime. thats close enough isnt it?

well my 30 days of to/ldgs are up on nov. 9th. (since i was one of the first out of the sim.) I forgot to ask but BD, he told you we get some time off between the TO/LDG's and the move to the domicile? or do we do a full on IOE then move to the domicile?

gotta decide what to pack....besides my 9 yo.

Rob,

Yeah, he said we'd get time off then come back to complete IOE and be on the line by December 1st. Main thing is to get the 3 in.

But, I wouldn't bet on anything being set in stone. They may end up needing to shove some of us right out the door, IMHO, with the holiday season starting.

Gotta go drive a bus,
BD

Glad to hear you guys are back,

Has everyone gotten called back yet? There are people asking-some of us have been trying hard to keep reminding people not to do overtime with you guys still on the street. I've had some "interesting discussions" over it.

Did CHQ make you give back all your manuals? If so, and you are in/near MCO, you can borrow my old POH and notes, to refresh before going to IND. (PM ME)(I'll see you guys in IND...got the call for CA) :)

Do you guys all have a copy of the new contract? Make sure you do-and read the thing. Very important to know your rights.

B

Whats up Bus- finally remembered who you are... ;)

Blott,

yes they called everyone back. flyinjack is the last in our class and he got the call.letter like the rest of us did. so....take the overtime. be able to afford the kid on the way. (congrats ace-crackshot)

as far as manuals go, we had to return everything with exception of what flightsafety gave us....so we have the POH and all copies of whatever information we could find...tee hee.

so the SOP's/company manuals/charts we will get back our fifrst day <its a light day> i guess ill plan on alot of driving in the next 4 weeks.

Anyone know when they may begin interviewing people off the street and people with LOR's?

Any idea when they will be pulling people out of the pool and when the next class date will start. I have a friend in the pool who is getting very anxious over this. Thanks for any info.
