Were the cuts made out of seniority?
Were the cuts made out of seniority?
According to our DO and our CEO, 10-15 furloughs will be strictly done in reverse seniority order, irrespective of fleet. The last class of new hires all went to the Challenger, so they are most vulnerable. Our new CEO is respecting seniority during this process, with full recall rights being offered, which is a huge improvement over how things were handled in 2008. A voluntary buyout package has been offered, but with such a short time frame to make the decision, it sounds like there are few takers.
With the departure of the 7 Hawkers and the decision to not buy the 3 additional super-mids we had already hired for, we find ourselves with too many pilots. I have not heard of any Citations or Challengers departing the fleet. There is potential for downgrades as well, depending on the mix of buyout takers vs furloughs.
While we all feel like we just got punched in the gut by this news, at least it is being handled fairly and transparently. A marked improvement over how previous management handled things.
If the 10-15 come from the 300 how will XOJET staff the fleet?
How will this address the problem the hawker street captains created - a 63% captain ratio on the X and a 64% ratio on the 300?
This represents nearly 10 captains too many = 400k overpaid = the reason guys with families are losing jobs.
