I’m wondering if anyone has ever had the experience of a Captain deliberately cheating a First Officer (FO) of actual instrument time. For example, the FO actually flew an hour in actual conditions, but the Captain only documented half of that time in the aircraft daily records, and this was not just a one-time occurrence, but a daily occurrence.

If this happened to you, how would you react? What would you think of the Captain?

Thanks, blue skies….

What airline tracks that crap? Why would they care? The only thing Comair wants to know about is landing (currency) and the usual aircraft hours. Other than that, who gives a flying fig?

You sound insane!

Cheating you out of instrument time? Since when is it that precious?

Let me guess. You have 15 hours, and now want to climb your way to 20?

This friend is not a low timer, but a 30-year veteran with ample flying time and ample IFR time. This friend has been working for a small regional for a couple of years after not flying full time for a few years because of family obligations.

When asked what to do about this, guess I was kind of sad a Captain would cheat someone who has given so much to flying.

Skybum,

what in the heck are you talking about?????

sometimes this place is like sitting at the kiddy table durring thanksgiving dinner

Aaaaahhh......He's the Captain, he can log whatever he wants. If it makes you feel better, note all of the "time out of which you feel you've been cheated", on the back of a pack of matches or a gum wrapper and when you upgrade, you can pad your times with all of your lost time.....You'll be the Captain, you'll be able to do whatever you want?!.

"...and then they pelted us with rocks and garbage."

"Sad", maybe if your puppy died. The guy is a 30 year vet. Sounds like this guy has his family to worry over other than worrying about logging IFR time. he should know what to do and how to handle situations after 30 years in the business.

Where did the smokin' skull go? Well, I try to visit with the Griffins as often as possible.

What? I thought the Captain was PIC, regardless who flew, if anyone flew. Both can log it, can't they? The pilot not flying serves just as important a role monitoring the flight, talking on the radio and keeping the airplane configured ( checklists ).

For example, standard ops with a Cat II approach has the PIC doing nothing but monitoring the automation and flying fron 80 ft AGL to the flare, but I log every single one of those, so did my FO.

But what can it possibly matter? In most turbine high performance airplanes you are flying instruments even when the weather is CAVU. If the autopilot is deferred the FO can fly just as much as they want :)

Who wears a dress? Is someone flying approaches undressed? I'm pretty sure that is a violation of something, or somebody. And if you are jealous, stop looking at the Captain's log....

So in your TT you should put 958 instead of 906 if you were cheated. Are you one of these pilots that updates your time with flightinfo after every flight? "Roger"

Oh, MY God!

...yeah, sat down at the kiddie table full of down syndrom cases...

TOP GUN... - dude, please, for the love of GOD, change everything about your profile before your next post.

SkYBUM... - I have a friend... He says he has a weird rash under his left nut where the sack joins his but-crack... He says it is about the size of a silver dollar, purple in color with little red speckles throughout... He says it appeared one day following an RON with a FA from Colgan... Should he get that checked out by a doctor? It is amazing (ditto on similar post) after 30 years;

1) your friend would be so concerned to consult you on such an issue; or
2) that he/she has no clue about FAR Part 61 with regard to logging of Pilot time.

It is real simple:

Part 91, 135, 121, 125 have no bearing on 'Sole' manipulator of the flight controls when it comes to accounting for flight time as PILOT. PUT WHAT EVER YOU WANT IN YOUR LOGBOOK. BE VERY PREPARED TO ACCOUNT FOR IT LATER IN AN INTERVIEW. SUPER FUCIA FLAGS ARE:

1) total time exceeding annual limits 135 non/scheduled; 121/125
2) too, much PIC time for length of employment/upgrade
3) sh!t loads of IFR ACTUAL in any JET.

How often do you really spend bombing around in a jet and in the soup?

WHO STINKING CARES!

Maybe you ought to debrief with your CA sometime. Ask him, "say, Capt, I noticed you only logged .2 on the IMC time and I came up with .275 which is really a .3, How's about making that adjustment, because I am a real stickler for the detail and that extra 4 minutes adds up over a period of time." I am guessing he really doesn't give a rats posterior and will put down what ever you want him to because he just pencil-whips those kind of numbers because at this stage of the game they really, absolutley mean dik.

Just a guess.

Touch-em-all! This should mark the end of the post.

I can't believe I read all the way through the end of this post. God am I bored.

While we're on the subject, any FOs been cheated out of a couple tenths of night time because the captain didn't know when the end of civil twilight was? (no, I'm not serious. Man I wish sarcasm could be easily expressed on the internet).

Skybum,

You can have some of my IMC time if you want it.....

Come on!! Everyone chip in some!!!

Ygtbsm

He cheated me, its not fair, GROW UP!!!

Does the Capt. also rub your tummy for you when it hurts?

I'm with SWA GUY... you can have 3.225 hours of my Inst time.
