Why is It silly. If ticket agents can have a union so can 135 people. It should be a law that every carrier must be a member of a union. A REAL UNION not some in house bull$hit

Why should FORCED unionism where you are FORCED to throw your money away every month be a law? That goes against every principle that this country was founded under. Closed shops are ILLEGAL. everyone has the right to not join a union
 
D'Angelo and SuperPooper have to post on threads like this now because everyone who takes part in the Comair/ASA/Chautauqua/Mesa/DCI threads has them on their Ignore List.

Do the same here and life will be much simpler for all of you.

I agree fully.

I never worked at Cape but know the flying they do and respect them tremendously for it. People who knock it probably couldn't hack it.. And I personally know of people who washed out during Cape Air's training and then later got 121 regional jobs or are flying 135 jet charter so I'm convinced the pilots who work there know their shtuff.
 
How bout this. Cape Airs 402's are not Airconditoned like all of you Pu$$y jet pilots planes. Try spending 7.5 in the plane when its 90 deg out and your sitting behind and RJ pilot who has no awareness that Cape Air is behind you. Sweating from your inability to gently pull fwd from a stop. ie: idle throttle to full throttle just to move 30 feet. Drink up boys and girls there is tons of sweat on a Cape Air pilots balls.

Don't forget the other poor SOBs doing the same job as Cape Air between HYA and ACK. What really sucks is that your guys do the ground handeling for the RJs during the summer and I bet some of the crews don't even know who Cape Air is. Any pilot willing to fly 7.5 hours a day in 90 degree weather, with 1800 RVR bound to happen at any second deserves respect. I for one know of some Cape Air pilots do not have "a set", but I'm sure those (female) pilots would be willing to let them drink the sweat off of somewhere even less desirable.

I will always be a advocate for pilot's being treated better, paid better, and their jobs being protected! I know just how bad it can get without someone to fight for you, trust me!

We'd like to take credit for that trick but we learned it from Delta MD88 pilots and have it demonstrated to us regularly by the AirTran 717 guys. ;)
 
I also find it humorous when the RJ babys cry about the vis and ceiling on ACK when all (even the shuttle guys.) are getting at 2000 rvr. I'll give them 200 rvr.

Does the fact there is no contract not speak for itself? Teamsters strike again!

There are very few reasons that Cape Air pilots want a union, but they are good reasons. Things like the ASAP program, legal protection, commutable schedules, and someone speaking for the group are all good reasons. It is the execution of those things that usually fail.

With that said, politics, angst created between management and the pilots at a company where everyone knows everyone's name and your not just a number are balancing reasons.

The fact of the matter is that this is up to a individual pilot to decide on their own. I don't plan on having a dog in this fight. I just want to do my job, go home, and call it good. I think another poster on flight info said it best, "Planes parked, uniforms off, lets forget the whole thing ever happened."

Another thing I have learned is that pro-labor does not mean pro-business. Last time I checked everyone that has ever paid me my paycheck is a business man, and usually rich. A union has never cut me a paycheck, but it would be nice to have something to protect that paycheck. However, recent history dictates that no one can truly protect you, except yourself.
 
I've had the privilege to have a ex- cape air pilot as my first officer. He now copilots a Sovereign for Citationshares with me. You guys have the toughest flying job there is. I at one time did the same thing in an Aerostar and Chieftain to name a few. I worked as a regional pilot for Allegheny for seven years, I now work for Citationshares for the last six years. I must say the union really wronged me and allot my fellow pilot friends. Please be wise in your decision to brake down the pilot management communication. It could make life at Cape Air very difficult and not worth it. If it's not any fun going to work anymore, it's time to do something else. As for the Jet jockeys, it's not all that difficult so get off your high horse. The worse part of my job is airlining to from my jet. When the weather is bad, I'll take the experience level in your 402 at Cape Air over the 2000 hour captain and 300-600 hour FO with most of these Wal-Mart regionals. Frankly it scares the &hit out of me. Lucky for them the flying public has no clue that piloting an aircraft has gone to the lowest bidder. After some of the post I've read from some of these so called Jet pilots, I might just have to take a bus. Good luck to all the professionals at Cape Air.
