Heard they replaced Gulfstream on a couple of routes. Looked it up on the CAL website and they are listed as the new CAL connection going into Tampa.

Hello
I read in the company newsletter that executives went down to Houston and signed the contract. I dont know the specifics but the information is correct, they are a CAL connection.
good for them

Do you guys know if they are going to be doing anything other then 402 flights?

Next thing you know these "connection carriers" will be using single engine aircraft.:D :D

How many seats can you fit in a C208 in commuter configuration?

:D

Minh

(Waiting for the inevitable question ... "Has anyone heard about Cape Air getting ERJs?")

Cessna is actually working on a "wide body" long range C172 for the longer flights. I guess inflight service is still up for debate though....

where are they going to put the luggage. people coming from newark and houston with large bags. the 402 can only hold so much. also heard that coex is starting proving runs to tpa and mia with the rj.

Continental wants to feed Tampa from Sarasota and Fort Myers.

We (GIA) pulled out because we were losing money on those markets. At least that is what I have been told. Cape Air is on some sort of a wet lease with CAL to keep the feed going.

Fly safe!!

Actually, they already use single engine airplanes in commuter airline operations. Pacific Wings uses Caravans and flies them between Hawaiian islands. They also fly them as 2 pilot airplanes. At least they're no longer PFT. Never thought I'd see it....

Cape Air has added runs RSW-TPA -SRQ runs as of this past week at Continental's request. They already run RSW-EYW, APF-EYW, FLL-EYW AND APF-FLL. I know all the pilots done here including the ones starting up the new routes, its a good group.
Cape Air pilots already have flight benifits on most all airlines including Continental.
There has been talk for a few years about bringing in turbine equipment to the company, it just hasn't happened yet.
Those 402's carry a lot more then you think, it does get pretty tight with a full load and their bags
Yea we did here some crap from paxs. When I did fly for Cape Air, a couple of times I almost had people refuse to get on the plane, I promised it would be smooth, Yea right. It happened mostly down here in FL. Most of the paxs up in the North East are use to Cape Air.
