We had a case where one of the "In Flight" supervisors removed the F/A from the flight (Violations on the uniform code, length of the skirt. I think) and had another assistant supervisor work the flight In civilian cloths. Go figure.

Best to get a MOD or CP involved before you start enforcing FA uniform protocol. Your MOD or CP will get the proper inflight management folks involved. Let them make the decision to remove the FA or have him/her continue to a station where they can be replaced or fix their uniform.

Yep, I agree. This airline has no standards of customer care. Think you are going to change things - HA!

However, the FAA does have a high standard and you are held to that standard. Do you think that your FA is able to keep the passengers safe? Do they have a cool enough head to react properly should an emergency arise?

We are directly responsible for pax safety, whether it be due to an airplane with no APU that results in a heat stroke, or a Flight Attendant who lets folks ignore the seatbelt sign and fall on the airplane.

My objective measure is safety. After that this airline gave up on the window dressing a long time ago.

When we have State of the Company Meetings where the President tells us that our goal is "just not to be last - being first would cost too much" - lets me know where our operations focus is at.

Delta gets what they pay for. We have 6 DCI carriers in ATL and obviously the competition is based on cost, not service.

Legally, the captain can toss anybody from the plane...as the sole authority. However, practically, if you were do that based solely on a grooming standpoint, you may have some explaining to do to your CP. The FAA could really care less about dressing image, though no doubt your company should.

75% of regional pilots fly around with wrinkled, stained, smelly, dirty uniforms anyway.....wonder if a Captain has ever denied himself boarding because he looks like a slob.....give the flight attendants a break.

Just to be clear I was not advocating trying to get a FA tossed off the trip for appearance. What I was pointing out is that if a captain felt that strongly about it he should get the right people involved. I've never seen a FA so non-compliant that it would give me any cause for concern.

If you look in the SPs (or whatever they are called now) it says the capt. is responsible for the crew conforming to uniform policy. If not you can get them taken off until they do follow policy.

So...if I were to deny a sup. in civ. clothes to work my flight...would SHE then get a trip failure too. I would hope so.

I can't stand the logic and stupidness in the FA ranks when it comes to punishment and enforcement.
