In addition to your many other rantings about how I didn't know what I was talking about...

I just called Handschuch and he said it's BS. That if or when it will start would be long way off or not at all.

Nice try though.

What's that you said? Now that the confirmation of what I've been trying to tell you is out there and our crew meal policy is changing, how's about you change your tune. Handshuchs himself has now spoken to at least 4 diferrent pilot groups (not guys but GROUPS) about our new policy that will be effective sometime this May/early June.

The word on the street is: We will get a set $55/perday/perdiem and we pay for our own crew meals at $10 a pop. We will order via blackberry from a small menu selection and confirm delivery same way. For each meal ordered, $10 will be deducted from perdiem before expense checks are mailed. If you choose not to order a "flexi-meal" scheduling is not obligated to find you time to get something else.

Expect confirmation of these meetings on the Bluebelly soon (as more than a few are pi$$$ed) and I would imagine more details in the next crew mailing or two. Although maybe not -- Flex does have an unwriiten policy of keeping half of us informed and the other half in the dark. It's just luck of the draw which group you're in on any given day.

It feels so good to be so right and for you to be so wrong. Just thought I'd let you know that...

Of greater concern tough is that we have a chief pilot who would lie directly to you right after one of these meeting just happened. And that my koolaid drinking friend negates every positive spin you have been trying to put out there about flex and that doesn't do any of us any good.

Nice try though...

It matters not how they spin it, Peter, it still boils down to a paycut for the pilots. All of us should have learned in grade school that bullies keep pushing you around until you stand up to them. If the pilots needed any more evidence of the lack of respect the company has for them, surely this is it?! I will be very surprised, not to mention sorely disappointed, if the pilots and their families don't say "Enough already!" and take active steps to end the QOL erosion that they are being subjected to. It doesn't have to be this way. Best wishes to those fighting for what is right.

The program you are describing is very much like what was pitched to a recurrent class by RH in late September 2005. I was there for 604 recurrent. There were also guys from the 300 and 60's. This ain't new it has just taken time for it to come around.

CL, I don't understand your position (because it was unstated) on the new policy. Are you saying that it was inevitable, get over it? Or...that the dreaded day is finally arriving? The third option--that you have no opinion--doesn't seem likely given the fact that you took the time to post.

No one said the "idea" was new -- as a matter of fact I think he explained it himself on bluebelly last fall. The news (to me at least) is that he is now on record that the start of the program is now a policy versus an idea that will start sooner rather than later.

And either "pilotguy" is a liar or RH is... not neccessarily news, but my reason for the posts, hence the title "Calling out PilotGuy" regarding a previous message posts on the flex crew meal issue and also in the spirit of the famed Avantair thread where the CP supposedly denied rumors directly to one group of pilots while in fact they were all true.

By the way, RH is saying this is modeled after FLOPS policy -- went back and searched on BB and found where he did -- and to my best knowledge, FLOPS does not do it this way.

The issue really goes back to whats best for the pilot group as a whole. Captains need to be just as concerned for the FOs sitting next to them as they do for themselves. To take on the attitude that we don't care about free meals going away becuase we don't count on perdiem for income (very different for a new hore FO) sucks.

This carries over into the lack of enthusiasm for a union drive from the upper half of the seniority. It's a "I've got mine so why fight" attitude. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want the guy sitting next to me thinking about is how if he doesn't eat today they can buy the big case of Pampers at Sam's club versus his wife going to Stonebriar and loading up on the freebies.
(True story BTW)

Well, if that is a true story, the guy should have made a different career choice. Or waited to have childern until his income could afford a child. It's a fact of life that happens every day. Don't go blaming a company for a lack of personal financial responsibility.

And let's not go blaming pilots who exercise their right to collectively negotiate the professional salary that is in line with their skills.

Way to illustrate the "I've got mine attitude" that Peter posted about. Here's your sign......SELFISH....
