Anybody know the projected upgrade time at CAL if things stay the same?

Probably, 4 years or so. New systema bid should be out in a week or two. If age 65 changes, probably about 8 years. If merger with United, 10 years or better. Probably furloughs as Airbuses would probably be parked. Just my opinion which usually means nothing! Ask my wife!

Rumor has it that there will be some G number captains on this bid (If it ever comes out). The Gs started getting hired April '05 sooooo......

Of course I will believe it when I see it.

This is a tough one to predict as nearly1800 pilots bypass upgrade due to base/quality of life/etc. So could 05 hires hold upgrade on the next bid, yes, but it just depends on what everyone who has bypassed decides to do.

So upgrade in about 4 in EWR then sit reserve for another 6 in EWR. What are the upgrades in IAH?

I guess it all boils down to: do you want the money or QOL?

A guy in my squadron has been at CAL 16 years and still hasn't bid Captain, evidently he is all about the QOL.

Our junior captain is a Jan/Feb 2001 hire, furloughed Sep 2001, recalled April 2005 (?). That make his total time on the line at about 2 years. I'd say five years is realistic, especially if you don't mind commuting to EWR to do it.

I think our junior Captians in IAH are 98'ish hires.

latest system bid is out with limited upgrade opportunity? don't look for upgrades to be way down in the seniority list. with possible merger opps.

maybe the 1999 hires will get it
