the crack management team at cal/ual will screw over all the employees really bad. you think usair is bad , you haven't seen anything yet.

From a management perspective, UAL/CAL has got to hope for a US Airways scenario! Because then they can keep the old contract in place while the pilot groups spend years slugging it out. US Airways is paying 160$ an hour for a senior Captain to fly an A330? Where else in America is that happening, let alone the world? As long as the pilot groups are divided, a new contract will never get signed, meanwhile, US Airways is banking awesome profits! UAL/CAL management has got to be PRAYING for a US Airways scenario.

There is language in the TPA to prevent this from being drug out for years. Either side can request NMB mediation as early as mid October.

They can't but the next step is self help. This is an expedited process, unlike normal CBAs.

You only get to self-help once the NMB releases you and the 30-day cooling off period passes. Oh yeah, and the PEB that would most likely follow too.

And technically, NOTHING prevents the NMB from "icing" either or both parties indefinitely.
