From a management perspective, UAL/CAL has got to hope for a US Airways scenario! Because then they can keep the old contract in place while the pilot groups spend years slugging it out. US Airways is paying 160$ an hour for a senior Captain to fly an A330? Where else in America is that happening, let alone the world? As long as the pilot groups are divided, a new contract will never get signed, meanwhile, US Airways is banking awesome profits! UAL/CAL management has got to be PRAYING for a US Airways scenario.

They can't but the next step is self help. This is an expedited process, unlike normal CBAs.
