The bid reflected 155 vancancies. There are 148 CAL pilots on furlough. 155-148 = 7. The PB and MEC news stated letters were being sent out immediately following the close of the bid and classes are expected to begin mid Q4. The TPA states the UAL furloughs will fill the extra positions. Also 15 CAL pilots were "paper" recalled in May and it is unclear if they are reflected in this bid. So potentially 15 more UAL pilots may get letters, unsure. There will also be plenty of pilots who bypass.
It appears that those pilots will also be recalled at the close of this bid based on this quote from the system bid:
"Second, this bid has sufficient vacancies to provide positions for all remaining furloughed
pilots.
It is anticipated that the recall letters for those pilots recalled on System Bid 11-05 as
well as this bid will be sent out shortly following the close of this System Bid."
I keep seeing people on this thread say the bid had 155 vacancies, but it actually only had 145 (41 IAH 787 CA, 94 IAH 787 FO, 10 EWR 777 FO) vacancies. So, if you do the math:
15 vacancies from last bid
145 vacancies from this one
160 total vacancies
So
if they actually fill all the vacancies then
160 - 148 pilots on furlough = 12 left over positions for UAL guys
Based on all that at least 12 UAL guys
should be brought on, probably more depending on how many come back.
