I hear they are going to put the Colgan Q400s on it. The mid air refueling training will be done with a 30 minute video to be watched on a crew member's day off, no extra pay for it of course.

Any idea on what equipment CAL is using out of SNA? Alaska said they couldn't make money on the route with an -800--we'd have to block too many seats. Is CAL planning on using a -700 or 757?

Flew some military charters this past weekend. The Load Planner working those flights said the exact same thing... SNA to a variety of Hawaiian destinations. As for the equipment, I think he said -800s, but don't quote me.

I read -8's and -7's. I think SNA is a -7.

SNA usually is a -7. We have a few short field performance -8's that we might use as well. It's about the same distance SNA-EWR as it is out to the islands.

In case you're wondering, the short field performance has a two-position tail skid, sealed leading-edge slats, and increased flight spoiler deflection on the ground.

Don't know if ETOPS would require more fuel for the leg, but it looks doable.

I wonder what base is going to be flying the SNA route. Right now CLE and GUM are the only bases that are trained for Pacific Ops.

That's how UAL will slowly fade away. Now that they have the alliance this flight will be codeshared as a UAL flight also. Next we will hear how low the load factors are on the UAL mainline portion, so it will be discontinued. Now that it is discontinued, we don't need that 767, 757, or 777, so park it and then furlough more!!!!................ It's gonna happen.

The other routes being run around the mill are SAN-HNL, SFO-HNL. Not sure how the second LAX-HNL with a -900ER will work but at least this is a step in the right direction. Look for the LAX/ONT/SNA base to follow close behind this.
