As of today, February 15, 2005 the numbers are as follows...
(a recall class started today)

499 have been recalled
86 have bypassed the first recall and have up to 3 years to return
1 resigned
1 passed away

There are 134 left to be called before the hiring starts.

That's about a 17% bypass rate.

134...

of that 134 left to be recalled, 31 have indicated they may bypass and 40 have not responded to the unofficial CALALPA poll.

Doh.

How large are the classes, and how frequently are they running? That is, when would you expect hiring to start?

Thanks for the info,

QP

In January 62 pilots were recalled, and only 17 bypassed (including MLA).
In February 82 pilots were recalled, and 28 bypassed (including MLA).
March 1 to April 1 - 115 recalls.

40-48 are being recalled per month. Three classes a month. Approx 12 to 15 in each class. All furloughs that want to be back will be back in April.

Rumor is the 113 XJT pilots with job offers will be hired by CAL in blocks of two during April and May. Off the street hiring will begin after that. Approx 40-50 per month (blended OTS and XJT pilots).

Helpful numbers to have, we appreciate it. A little ray of optimism during difficult times. If I may be so presumptuous, one further request; the future pilots of CAL would like to see the line held on the concessions front, but what happens happens. Anyway, thanks for widening the information loop, RF.
