Over 1300 retirements will occur by 2010. Add that to medicals and Continental will need to replace close to 2000 pilots by 2010. Hiring soon...hopefully.

Furloughed since October 1, 2001.

700 medical retirements over the next 5 years? What are they feeding you guys over there?

I should have said "early outs" instead of medicals. My bad. I've always heard a rough guess on early-outs is approx. half as many as the future retirments. That would be 677. That number may be high as that was in the freighter world.

This was just posted on CALFORUMS...

Before 9-11-2001 we averaged 2 pilots per month that left the seniority list for unknown reasons (fired, quit, death, etc.) - about 25 per year.
In 2002 that number doubled and remained higher for 2003 and 2004 as well.
In 2005 we have 41 pilots that have left the list for "unknown reasons" during the January/February time frame alone !!!

At any rate, 1355 retirements plus 250 medical outs (for unknown reasons) is 1605. Will another 395 retire early when faced with negative changes to their retirement? Who knows?

Ohhh....

This will make Berliner, Kit Darby etc... happy. Time to run and get a slave job at Express Jet!! NOT

Mr. Six is spinning in his grave

I see the retirement numbers, recall numbers, and aircraft delivery numbers, do they all add up to hiring in the next few months???

How does the CAL app process work? Is it all online? Fees?

Just trying to get everything in order when they opportunity arises, I hope it all happens soon as CAL would be a great place to settle in for the long haul.

I have heard (directly from a Chief Pilot) it will be an online process through Continental.com under "careers". Other unverified but rumored info is that referels will be heavily weighted in the process.

Depending on the TA, I believe there will be hiring very very soon. I have some personal opinions but you know the saying about opinions so I will withhold comment.

Does Continental Express still have the Flow Thru agreement? If so how many Express pilots are hired in each class? Is it 1/1 (Express/Off the Street)

Thanks,

No more flow thru, 113 XJT guys who had class dates from back in the day (pre 9/11), then preferential interviews will be giving to ExpressJet pilots.

Btw, the old flow thru ratio was 1 out of every 3 hires had to come from Express.

How do the preferential interviews work for the ExpressJet guys, do they just apply and then are gauranteed an interview?
