Actually one of my buddies over there told me that there are grumblings that it may go to 100 per month until May. Thery are going to slow down over the summer months and then pick up again later in the year.

That certainly should make the XJT upgrade pretty quick.

Because Pref bidding is so F----d up that it actually exposes just how short staffed we have been, and they actually have to hire to cover it along with all the sick calls it is causing. So much for the savings

fwiw...had a checkairman on jumpseat and he said hiring to continue through the summer at the current rate.

No, I believe about 35 or so of the new hires are XJT in each class and it will continue in that direction well into the future.

I recently got my 737 type in the ole CAL training center. My sim partner was XJT. It seemed everytime he turned around there was another friend of his from XJT starting class, etc. I think about 40% of newhires are XJT right now. That speaks well of a company to hire from 'its' regional. A concept that was totally lost with my prior DFW based employer.
CAL is a good place to be. Good luck to everyone interviewing and waiting for the call!

Most junior guy got assigned it and number 12 or 13 out of the class got it...

I think it is fairly junior now, but that will change significantly when deadhead pay goes back to 100% in July. Widebody IRO lines were very senior before the paycuts.
