There sure are some shady airplane dealers out there, but there are definately some good ones. The difference is generally price.

I have some friends who bought an airplane, and every last thing that they negotiated with the dealer to fix, didn't get touched (perhaps cleaned an painted, but definately not working).

But I also know folks who have dealt with real reputable dealers, and they got exactly what they thought they were buying.

PS-it sure is a lot of homework--if you plop down that much cash, you'll be glad you did it!
