Could foreign owners really mess up the US airline industry any worse than it's already been messed up?
Any idea about what happens in time of a real war? Are you familiar with the laws that allow the govenrment to basically draft the airlines to provide additional lift (cargo/troops movement, not actual combat flying). The reason the law is there is to not compromise our national security. Can you imagine if we got into a conflict with, say China, and they owned most of the airlines? It's bad enough Bush is financing the tax cuts and deficits by selling your kid's future to other countries. Bush is concerned with lining the pockets of a relative handful of people. Any president that really cared about national security would not be willing to compromise it to make a buck. There is no compelling reason to change ownership laws. It's not like we're suffering for lack of capacity. It's just the opposite.

I know; Why don't you ask what happined to all of the men who worked in America for the shipping industry.

In case you don't know the answer, they are all gone. Go into a port and tell me how many of those vessels or crews are Americans?

Well at least the entertainment industry (Hollywood, sports, porn, gambling, etc.) is thriving and providing real jobs for Americans! The politicians are just doing the bidding of commerce. Doesn't matter which party.

Good comeback. Oh yeah ....

Just wait two more years. My comeback didn't have to be very good.

You Bush-bashers really crack me up. Do you think Kerry, the husband of Teresa Heinz would do something other than back big business? Do you think that Kerry, who spent over 20 years in Congress but never wrote 1 single, substantial piece of legislation would have made a better president?

If you want someone to blame, look to your own party. If they had given the American public a viable candidate, GWB wouldn't have been elected. You have no one to blame but yourselves.

Bashing Bush makes you feel like you are doing something, when all you are doing is venting your spleen. Bashing Bush may make you feel better, but to me, you sound like Richard Gere with a gerbil up the kazoo.

I can't imagine anyone being worse than Bush, it would be rather difficult. Would Kerry have been a great president? Nope, but at least he wouldn't have been one of the worst. The question now is, how much deeper will Bush dig his/our hole over the next 2 years? It is a little depressing that the two major political parties in this country don't have anyone better.
