Make fun all you want, but when the correct answer to a type oral question with the FAA in the room is "a kevlar wrapped high density beer cooler," you know you are in the right program.

... and the cargo net makes a much better hammock than that piece of plywood Mesa crews carried on their CDO's.

(... thought we could not work it in, Mesa Sucks)

ah...the bada-bing...are those two name plates still mounted in there? How are those recliners. There were only four and we were always doubled/trippled up sitting in them.

Stories--

My one and only emergency. Ship 643.

It was a pleasant hot July afternoon...July 6 2004 to be exact....b-day...spent the previous night closing down "Helen Back's" in VPS. Then my crew (all girls..sweet), a DFW CRJ crew, the ramp crew and Dan the van driver all hit the pool deck and cruised the lazy river polishing off a case of beer someone picked up. We knew the 3rd shift security guard...he showed us how to turn on the hot tub. A very nice pre-birthday event. Then spent the day at the pool chilling and drinking a $hit load of water.

so...long fun night right....yea...

fast fwding to my 1st of 3 legs...VPS-ATL.

Climbing thru 8000, "ding"---"LoLVL" on the blue hyd. system. After running through the check list...zero flap landing...no sweat. Decided not to declare an emergency. Didn't make a PA yet. So we get about 70nm from ATL. I gotta make the walk of shame before I grease on my 1st zero flap landing (remember all that water?). When I re-enter the flight deck...I see more flashing lights and my awesome FO with the QRH in her lap. Now we have "LoLVL" on the green hyd system. UGH. NO hydraulics now. Nothing. (No, the X-feed was NOT selected...it would've been inhibited anyway from the MFCs with LO LEVEL). Now we're 40nm from ATL. Talk about time compression. We r still running the checklist when handed off to ATL appch. I THEN declare emergency and told them we lost the other hydraulic system...roll the trucks...and we'd like to slow down to prepare the cabin and finish up the QRH.

Now we're ready...turned on final. She flew about 3degrees nose up the whole appch. Pulled the gear handle up and out they came...but much slower. Our appch speed that day with a full boat and wind was 148K if I'm remembering correctly. One of THE smoothest landings I've done. Went into gnd idle then reverse at about 130K...she wobbled funny so I came out of rev and up to the FI stop but stayed in beta...the wobble stopped so back into reverse I go. We started drifting to the left...more left...I released the #1 throttle to gnd idle and kept some rev on #2. Centerline came back...released #2 throttle and dipped a bit of #1 rev to straighten up. As we approached Tango (ATL 27R), I put the brake handle into the emergency detent..works like a charm. Stopped just past T so all the backed up traffic could taxi past. Mini tug arrived a couple minutes later and we were towed to the gate.

My FO rocked...she did an awesome job and took excellent initiative. The FAs were great as well. Perfectly executed CRM event in my opinion.

Happy 30th Birthday...that was my afternoon.

LOL...just remembered this.

You guys remember "Kruger power"?

if not....well....a certain captain had a defered EEC. MEL/POH says to advance THAT throttle to 60%? I've forgotten. And then match up THAT tq to the good motor with the good PL in the notch.

well

Captain Kruger put that puppy ALLL the way up into the notch....Tq'd the $hit out of it...I heard 120 was the number. AND...flew it home after that. Had to hang a new motor and prop assembly.

The day she FINALLY left....the porn was back and it was everywhere.

What ever happened to ole MK?

I was woking the night when one the ATR's diverted to Waycross. ATC called FC to tell them your ATR diverted to AYS with an engine problem. FC said where the hell is Waycross.

WOW, and you guys make fun of Skywest for calling the Brasila a bro!

Skywest isn't the only company that calls the Brasila a bro.

I heard she went to Omni or World. Had some kind of crying fit in the flight deck...boyfriend, I'm too beautiful....some nonsense like that. Or so I heard.

I remember the AYS thing....Derek (no longer at ASA) and the dutchman. Only times I felt single pilot was with BOTH of them...and I was Derek's FO!
