Guys, some of you are thinking WAY the hell too much into this.

How long is the runway? Are their traffic considerations, like an aircraft on short final behind you or somebody holding in position waiting for you to clear before they can depart? Did you do YOUR job as a professional pilot and put the airplane on speed in the touchdown zone? And most importantly: how tight are you on making your commute home?

If I'm landing on 26/35 in PHL or 15/33 at DCA, expect moderate braking and moderate to full reverse because I don't want to go swimming or four-wheeling. If I'm landing in JAN or HSV, I'm probably gonna roll it out 6-7000 feet because 1. its better for the passengers, 2. better for the brakes, and 3. I get paid by the minute.

Do we REALLY need to be having this discussion?

I just do it cause it is fun.

Me too.

Last week in ATL I made the first REVERSE high speed on 9R.

The controller was like "WTFU"?

I was like "STFU"!

I waited like 15 minutes to cross 9L....ATC was definitely giving it back to me.

The brakes were still 8's at the gate! Priceless.

I find that the roughest/jerkiest (is that a word?) landings seem to be on MD-88s. It feels like the Captain has to haul on the brakes and do his own version of anti-skid as soon as he takes the controls. Maybe is aircraft or Delta-specific but that's just my take.

Autobrakes on the Mad Dog - it's in the FOM - enabled for landing.

It's like this. When we dealt B.H. the infamous ace, he immediately jammed the 50-99 seat pay package right into our taters. The company then announced, 70 seaters for UAL, almost 4 hours after the vote ended. We were flat out lied to(surprise!). B.H. then had the stones to send out an e-mail thanking us for having the lowest brake overhaul costs of all operators. The Capt I was flying with was more than pissed, on arrival into DEN with 50 pax and lots of extra gas, he said I am gonna show you how to get 7s on the brakes. He then touched down on 34R and as soon as the nose wheel touched down, he went right to anti-skid, while In the midst of the massive brake application he says "take that B.H.!" I almost died laughing. I guess pissing off the guys who control the operational costs at their fingertips and toes isn't too smart.

P.S. 7s across the board

Why don't you cry babys just do your teething on the control yokes. Save the tires, brakes and gear in case you really need them!! Just stop and look at the rolled up rubber on the tires when you give the airplane to your friends to fly. I know your work day is up and you are gone already but look. We know who you are.

Who cares about wear and tear on the brakes does it come out of y'all pay check? doesn't come out of mine that for sure neither does fuel.

Just doing my part to keep operating costs up! ************************* the bottom line!

Of all the stupid things to argue about. Heavy braking in a CRJ? Unprofessional pilots? Give me a break! Another FI classic, sure to go 15 pages.

Almost every new ERAU FO has told me that chicks dig heavy braking. Who am I to tell him otherwise? He did go to Harvard after all.

We all know chicks dig Beta. They don't care about heavy braking. And a good turbo prop can give them the oh-oh-oh all the way to PFN. Try that with a jet.

I'm impressed with the pilots that fly the CRJ 50 seat aircraft. I've been in the back and sat wide eyed at the nose down approach deck angle right up to flare...(first time, I thought we were going to touchdown on the nosewheel first)--and I've been in the jump seat and have seen the Vref. I understand the braking issue, especially in PHL.
