I use this when coming to the hold point:
ATC TWR: "Freedom 12345 you on freq.?"
ME: "Freedom 12345 ,afirm! ready to roll"
you have 5 number call signs at freedom?
They have taken over so much flying in the Delta Connection system that they ran out of four number flight numbers.
I apologize....certificate. Now that we've cleared that up everything should be better, right

Sounds eerily familiar doesn't it. I wonder where you would have seen that before....
I'm particularly impressed with the new trend of calling "blocked" on Center frequencies. Don't you realize that due to the large distances involved and signal strength, a transmission that seems "blocked" to you is not always "blocked" from the intended receiver, and your "blocked" call does nothing but "block" the readback to the controller. There's typically not much going on in the flight levels that is so critical that "blocked" needs to be announced. Save it for the terminal area, if you really feel like you must use it at all.
I always get my relief by yelling on 121.50 "YOURE ON GAURD"Spot on chap. Sometimes if I get the urge to yell "blocked", i will tune in 123.45 and relive this urge on some poor weekend warrior trying to find his bud.

where the storms are on his "fish finder" (doesn't actually know what that means but boy it sure sounded cool when that mainline guy said it)
I have always wanted to do this when I missed a call (happened only once)
"Sorry, I was on a land line"

2) If you are above FL180 ( This is to everyone) and the controller calls traffic why do you tell him you are looking or see the traffic when the CONTROLLER is responsible to keep you separated?

You're still responsible for collision avoidance.
