Just recently hired at netjets and was wondering if any netjet pilot uses a personal cell phone when they are away on a trip or if they use the blackberry to call home? Also, who is the cellular provider that they use, ex verizon, cingular. Thanks for your Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

HRTP---During Company recurrent it was clearly stated that we can use the Crackberries for occational personal use but it was NOT intended to be used as our personal cell phone. I have used the Blackberry to make calls home only when I did not have coverage on my personal cell phone.

In short-----personal calls---use your personal phone
-----business purposes--use the blackberry

Provider is Cingular.

And the minutes are not usable between your private Cingular account and the company minutes. In other words, if you have unlimited in network minutes with a Cingular account, they will not work for calls to the BlackBerry.

This is what I got from the tech services folks at NJ's. It's due to the way that they purchased the package. I know this because I currently have Verizon for my personal cell and thought it may be handy to be on the same network as the BB, but it's not worth changing due to the way the companies account is structured.

The Blackberry is indeed awful as a phone but I find it to be slightly more usable if you use the included handsfree adaptor. To the guy that wanted to use his minutes on the BB I believe you could do that by just swapping out sim cards - its under the battery on the BB. I have heard people doing this and it should work but I have not tried it personally.

I call mamma every night on the crackberry. I even use it at home, but I'm not one that stays on the phone 24/7. NJ's hasn't whined and I fiqure I'll use it till they tell me not to.

If i'm out of the country i'll use the blackberry for personal and buisness calls. A while ago we were given company phone cards for this use. I still have mine and it works but i just use the cell.

I've heard different things. Like we are all on one big cingular to cingular plan so if you call another cingular phone it doesn't matter. Then I heard we aren't on one.

I really don't think anyone knows. Use it when you feel it's necessary we are all big boys and girls.

Sad part is I have the company blackberry AND my own 8700c blackberry.

Yes i look like a ****************************** on the ramp.

I called CMH today and they said if it is a Cingular Blackberry then it is free from a Cingular phone.Take it for what it is worth...use the BB on the road use your phone at home.

I use a Sprint Treo 600 for my personal phone and the Blackberry when I'm making any calls remotely related to business and when I don't have Sprint service (like in Canada). I know a few pilots who are "pressing to test" by using their Blackberrys as their full time cellphones. So far nothing has been said to them but then they don't use a tremendous amount of minutes.

My Sprint contract is up in June and I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Treo 700p or possibly a 650. The 160x160 pixels screen res sucks on the 600. I considered using just the Blackberry but I use my Treo to get my laptop online whenever free wired/wireless isn't available. I hate to give that up even thou it's rare I have to use it anymore.
