XJHawk will come on in a few hours and post- "I don't believe it!! I want proof! Show me some documentation!"

Nah, we'll just wait for you to respond to your own thread again.

Big Sky Hotels, maybe. Prolly not Big Sky Airlines.

Actually, I heard about some Big Sky Florida flying. Maybe a contract with a major carrier for up to 3 years and 11 more 1900s. Read close, this is a definite POSSIBILITY. But just that, a possibility. This just like most (dont want to call it a rumor) possibilities end up not materializing. Just like the whole Commute Air or was it Colgan getting Dash 8 rumor. It is probably based in reality. But if getting planes on property, or opening a new crew base, buying another airline, or any other rumor you can possibly hear takes 100 steps, then many of these rumors are leaked at about step 2. They may make it only to step 2 or the whole way to 99, but until they actually show up and you can touch them, it is wait and see. I think half of these things are people just brainstorming ideas behind closed doors and the cleaning lady hears!

Its like the CEO of a regional could think to himself, it would be great to get some 737's on the property. He could be thinking wishful if not delusional. Or it may be a legitimate idea on paper but still get shotdown for a thousand different reasons (financing, scope, FAA, etc.). But meanwhile, that gets leaked and the word on the line is that its a done deal and deliveries start next month.

They have been posting jobs on climbto350.com alot.

Maybe you have sighted Gulfstream's AUTEC aircraft. The colors are almost the same as Big Sky's aircraft.

Wow, when did GIA start flying for AUTEC? Last I saw them, it was a company airplane with their own pilots.

It was originally CSC's (Dyncorp's) contract. We put in a bid in the spring with the Navy and won the contract. We have been flying it for about two months now. Both airplanes and the hanger are in our possesion. The dispatching and logistics contract remains under CSC control.

When I flew into Fresh Creek, 'bout 5 yrs ago, the customs and immigration people were awesome. Have fun, and try the conch fritters at the shack across from the airport, if it is still there.

OK-It's been confirmed by Big Sky's VP's-

They will start flying out of FLL to the Bahama's under contract with Chalk Air. Service starts in Late August with 1 1900, building to 3 or more into the fall/winter.

Source? We are already flying 3-5 flights a day into Bimini. Between our flying, charter companies, and Bimini Island Air, where is there room for others? Chalk's had a specific market. They may not find it available anymore.

VP of Flight Ops for Big Sky stated this in response to a pilot interviewee's question, "Why are you hiring?"

Good use of assets that Mesaba Airlines employees and pax supplied to Big Sky. I wonder how much more money this will cost Mesaba?
