Yup it's already a done deal. CAL ALPA and UAL ALPA have agreed on an integrated seniority list. CAL pilots get DOB and UAL pilots get DOH. Should be out in the mainstream shortly.:laugh:

Seriously when you read about in the newspaper is when most of us will find out. My two cents 50/50.

No way... Why would CAL want to strap on the UAUA anchor? CAL has done quite well post 9/11 to stave off bankruptcy. I would only see this happening after UAUA enters its second bankruptcy in a year or so...then it might be plausible.

He got the result he was looking for, a short term run up in the stock price so the management stock program cleared one of their "gates." These guys are so shameless it's sickening.

I think CAL would rather go it alone, one of their executives stated as much last year. However, if DAL and NWA get together they may not have a choice.

OTOH, I think it's clear UAL wants to get in bed with someone. They haven't ordered any new aircraft in years (Ch11 notwithstanding, I believe DAL and NWA are talking about 787's even in Ch11.)

Any merger for CAL would have to be approved by Northwest due to the agreement signed in 2000 so that CAL could buy from Northwest CAL stock. The agreement runs through 2025.

The Northwest deal is null if CAL is the buyer. The Northwest provision prevents an airline from purchasing CAL...or at least allows NWA to veto the deal..
