Pretty good mexican food. Even the locals fill the place.

Cheap fuel, good restaurant, fast turn around, long runway, flat terrain with an ILS make this a popular refueling spot for x-country pilots and their passengers.

Celebrities, sports stars, and heavy iron are common sites at this airport.

I second PNC. We take the FAA there for our 135 line checks, very busy at lunch. Im from San Diego and its hard to find Mexican food worth stomaching out here but this place is good.

Tailwinds at OCF - Best blueberry pancakes I've ever had, can't comment on the other food as I've only been during breakfast.

Lambert's Cafe in Foley, AL (Gulf Coast) - Not on the airport, but if you land at 5R4 or JKA and call them at 251-943-7655, they will send a car to pick you up, take you in the back door and the first available table is yours, even with a 2 hour wait for everyone else. One word of caution, you are so full when you leave you feel like sleeping instead of flying.

Perfect Landing at APA definitely serves great food. The only problem -- and it's been a consistent one every time I've been there -- is the service is painfully, painfully slow.

mu2cptn.....it's good, but I wouldn't agree with you on not having good Mexican food in SAN. There's a place in Old Town (the old place that's been there for years) that's one of my favorites of anywhere I've ever eaten.

Enrique's (sp) I went there on one of my first x/c during flight school.

We be smoken down in Miami county, KS

Tony's was ok in LAL

Hi jackers in Flagler county, FL was good. Even better when a friend of a friend picks up the tab.

I'm still new to FL so if there are any more ideas for food in FL keep them coming.

Tyhoon SMO Lunch is much cheaper than dinner, ask for the Lunch Special..only some of the locals know about it, usually about 6 things on your tray all excellent.
Hesperia has a new choke and puke that locals are actually going to.
Big Bear is also good for breakfast, locals going there as well.

Acadiana Regional (ARA) FBOhas lunch for around $3. This is in Southern Louisiana below Lafayette, where food is a way of life. I was told about it by a US Customs pilot when working on my private. I went on many a cross country flight to there. I would pull up in the schools piece o sh## C152 and park next to some cool military aircraft out for 'training' Nothing fancy but good cheap cajun food.

Can't remember the name, but the restaurant at Jefferson City, MO is fantastic. Only two things on the menu-- fried chicken and ham. Get the combo platter, it has both.

Not really an airport restaurant anymore since the airport closed but the landing zone at 22B (Burlington, CT) is still in operation with a "unique" menu.

I must have said it wrong....What i ment to say is all the Mexican food in Oklahoma can not come close to the taste of the Mexican food in California (except for Enrique's). The first place i stop after i get to SAN is El Indio's in Old Town (this might be the one you are refering too, i know its been there for at least 20 years).

Oh yeah, $1 barbque @ XNA (NW Arkansas Reg). Excellent facilities there, and they'll have it ready for you when you land.

I guess that was her name, the woman that served us in early December was very sweet. She wouldn't let me leave without putting up a business card on the wall.

I forgot about a couple more.

There's a tiny kitchen (literally 5ft x 8ft) at at HEZ (Natches, MS) where I had one of the best burgers of my life... you feel like you've stepped back into time, the FBO looks like an antebellum home with the big columns outside and an old lady is upstairs in her apron frying up burgers and fries on a tiny apartment-sized stovetop.

Sammie's Touch-and-Go at Pell City, AL (PLR) is worth the 100 hamburger trip. Only open Fri-Sun this time of year. The name is similar to a strip club in Birmingham & Ft. Walton, FL (Sammy's) and I've heard of people getting in trouble when the wife sees the credit card bill for Sammie's... haha.

And I know the rules said no courtesy car, but it's worth waiting on the courtesy car or paying taxi fare to eat at Harbor Docks in Destin, FL (DTS). 3 minute drive from the airport for awesome seafood.

It has been awhile since I've been there, but Elephant Bar in Santa Barbara was good.

Wow, this thread brings back memories. I used to fly to SBA a few times a year back in the mid-80's. ALWAYS went to the Elephant Bar, and loved it!
Buffalo Burger at Catalina was also a favorite, so was the restaurant at the airport in Big Bear. Seem to remember they had the "Big Bear Burger"?

SIK: Lambert's Cafe. Off-field but shuttle ride is available. Home of the throwed rolls.

APF: Michelbob's. Off-field but within walking distance. The best ribs money can buy!

STL: 94th Aero Squardron. Go on a warm day and you can be out on the patio which is right next to a taxiway.
