I've been out of the corporate side for a few years. They must have replaced the dead VJI whale with the cruiser.

Great place, Abingdon. I was flying the checks in N3054W back when the parallel taxiway was the runway. Way too long ago.

Everyone stop for fuel at VJI and go to Allison's.

Anyone remember the lovely stretch CADDY that was available from Sporty's at Batavia Ohio Used to get it for the whole day and roam around town feeling important !!!!!!

Orange County, TX .... mid '80s model baby blue Cadalac that's only missing the hydrolics to be the total pimp mobile.

They let us keep it overnight on a few occasions- great ac to to put the icing on the cake.

PNE has the BEST though anywhere- old Continental that has no steering capabilities...

On a more serious note >the best FBO chain> Signature Flight Support pretty much does have the best fleet of cars- most are all brand new-

Signature might have the best FBO cars, but I don't care.

They're the Microsoft of FBO's.

LEB- A mercedes. I guess the guy that owns the FBO is also a dealer. God that makes the women look.

Redmond OR. Some sort of hatchback with the floors rusted out and we used our feet to stop. God that was fun.

Are you 25?

'79 Chevette

Word.

I flew in to RAP with two students, and requested the car. I figured we must be getting something pretty sweet cuz the line guy says "Is one of you at least 25 years old? because we need you to sign for the car."

After getting the keys we all busted a gut laughing at the ole chevette. It had severe left turning tendancies, and I think was missing a spark plug, because we could barely get it up to highway speed.

Also the old police cruiser at Detroit Lakes, MN. Got stuck there in a snowstorm, and had a fun time trying to get into town on the ice and snow covered hilly streets.

Ah, Good Times!:)

I live in RAP. Where are you guys landing at?

West Jet

Here are some comments from www.airnav.com regarding the Chevette

I've been stopping here for many years, passing through, or visiting my three brothers in RAP. Always a good group to work with (not that their competition is a problem either), and open 24 hour service sure comes in handy. Prices are nothing to write home about. If you want cheap gas, go about 40-ish miles west to Belle Fouche, where it's always cheaper. I needed a hangar for the Baron, and West Jet charged $85 night for two nights. I think this is a bit much (I did buy 70 gallons of 100LL, also). Each quart of Shell 100 was $3.85. The Chevette courtesy car is really a piece of junk, but better than nothing. Sadly, I flew off to Kansas City with the keys in my pocket ;-( so now I know their mailing address. I have stopped at their somewhat cheaper competition with no complaints.

Good service. The courtesy car is actually a Chevette, it runs pretty good too.

Staff was friendly. I was able to use the courtesy car but it was a very old Chevelle. Better than nothing :) Fuel was expensive.

I love these light-hearted subjects!!

I flew into ADS with a student in his aircraft - he was going to fly there on business eventually so he wanted some assistance the first time. The dinner bell was ringing so we opted for mexican. Around the corner comes one of the Town Car's someone else mentioned. Too cool. Naturally I hopped in the back seat and made him "chauffer" me to dinner. He rolled his eyes but played along. One of those CFI memories I'll keep for a while.

Hi all,

Circa 1989, Panama City, FL. Forget the FBO, but they had a late 70's Chevy Land Barge Station Wagon with the fake wood trim (it would flap when you went above 20). Green was the original color, but rust was now in the majority.

It ran on about 3 of the 8 cylinders, the drivers seat would slide back and forth each time you hit the gas or the brake (weak accel and brakes not withstanding). Every time you left a light, it would leave a Spy Hunter style cloud of DENSE smoke behind it.

You would roll up to a light, and the people in cars around you would reach for their door locks...most humorous.

Ironically, later on driving it around the beach area, we found a "Bates Motel". I have a picture of the car from hell in front of the Bates Motel. I will treasure it forever.

Best,
Nu

The other FBO at RAP used to have a Ford Escort wagon, with no exhaust (it was louder than a Harley) and a bumper sticker that said "Do you think you would drive better if that cell phone were up your ass?". Try them next time, I think they got a new courtesy car, and they're cheaper. The line guys there will also do anything to help. The facilities are not as fancy though.
