lets just say I know somebody on the inside, We have employees investigating the accident. . the downspring was not connected (there are two of them though) and one of the elevator cables was off the pulley, the tension was not set right. the elevator was also fluttering for several flights before that.

Fine Air crash in MIA was deemed recoverable but the FO was flying and he overrotated and was not aggressive enough to recover it. he stalled the aircraft and never attempted to lower the nose enough. It was recoverable though, with aggressive nose down (full probably) pitch inputs and trim movement.


Also the DC-8 was SO FAR outside the aft limit if it was a 1900 it would have tailstanded on the ramp.

Tell me, do those things cause a lot of trouble in icing conditions? Or are they heated somehow? (Not relevant to this accident...I'm just curious.)
 
the 1900D wins the "most aerodynamic flow control devices" award hands down. Actually, I think it looks kinda cool.

The Stabilons (look like extra horizontal stabilizers at the base of the vertical tail) are there to provide additional aft CG envelope. They allow the aft CG to go to 40% MAC. they are also booted.


the strakes are downward off the fusealge at 1 50 degree angle these are supposed to prevent fishtailig and add lateral stability at high angles of attack.

the tailets hang down from near the ends of the horizontal stab they add addtitional vertical tail area. they are also booted. the KA-200 tail was certified on the aircraft in its stock configuration and these add-ons allow beech to use a certified tail and modify it rather than "scratch build" a whole new one.

winglets add effective span and add climb performance at higher altitudes remember this plane weight 17,12o a lot more than a 1900C I dont think those are over 15,500.

plus the winglets just plain look cool and give the plane "ramp appeal"
