lets just say I know somebody on the inside, We have employees investigating the accident. . the downspring was not connected (there are two of them though) and one of the elevator cables was off the pulley, the tension was not set right. the elevator was also fluttering for several flights before that.
Fine Air crash in MIA was deemed recoverable but the FO was flying and he overrotated and was not aggressive enough to recover it. he stalled the aircraft and never attempted to lower the nose enough. It was recoverable though, with aggressive nose down (full probably) pitch inputs and trim movement.
Also the DC-8 was SO FAR outside the aft limit if it was a 1900 it would have tailstanded on the ramp.
