SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Northrop Grumman and EADS jointly won a $40-billion contract to turn Airbus jets into flying tankers for U.S. military aircraft, the Wall Street Journal reported late Friday, citing a person familiar with the situation. Northrop and EADS were in competition with Boeing (BA:

Just what we need. Foreign built tankers for our military. What's next, foreign pilots to fly them?

Agreed, why send money and jobs to the French & Germans.

Buying airplanes in Euros isn't cheap.

John McCain must be tickled pink! He's the one who squelched the previous tanker contract which Boeing won. Probably waiting for the check to arrive from France!

The 787 is built with parts and assembly in Japan, Italy, many other countries, and the US.

Boeing is not close to being an all US product. I imagine that the Airbus will have similarly diverse composition.

Boeing's original 767 proposal (bordering on fraudulent)that McCain helped derail couldn't have helped.

I don't care where some of the parts are built, Boeing is an American company and Airbus is not. This is a disgrace. The American military flying around a bunch of French airplanes. Unbelievable.

I thought that you Obama supporters wanted to be FRIENDS with everybody! Why are you hating on the Frenchies?!

You and your anti-military (surrender foreign policy) candidate can feel free to keep the types of jets flown by the US military out of your consciousness.

And you pop up on seemingly EVERY thread. Do you do anything else but post here?!

You can thank McCain for this one and many more to come. Can you say Manchurian Candidate!

And no, I don't like Clinton or Obama either!

McCain didn't say it shouldn't be Boeing, he said not that particular deal with Boeing. John McCain is many things, some positive, some certainly negative. But he most certainly has an outstanding BS detector. I'm glad when someone saves me money or speaks out when a program lacks integrity. Love him or hate him, thats what McCain did with the first contract.
