Look for Feedback from ATL, 15-17 April Air Inc Seminar

A source of current info on hiring plans at AWA will be the ATL Air Inc Seminar, 15 - 17 April. Both Tracy Takara, the Recruitment Manager and Tiffany Berry, the pilot Recruiter are supposed to be there (Kit Darby never promises that they WILL be there). I say "a source" because it is just one slice of information (listen to what they [real AWA HR folks] have to say) -- Kit Darby and the rest of the weekend are up to you to evaluate.

If you don't know anyone at AWA, meeting Tracy and Tiffany at a seminar has lead to guys at least getting an application in the past. I don’t know if that will continue with our Golden Referral Program. Getting an AWA application is a feat in itself. It felt very nice at my interview to say "I know you don't remember me, but I just want to say thanks again for taking the time to talk to me in Dallas in Jan of 04" -- does that get you a job ... no, but it let's 'em know you are a serious candidate (and hopefully a polite one as well). When you are looking for work, it is hard to get "straight" info. We've got some great AWA guys on the board that helped me: TWA dude, Hansoma, HAL, JetMonkey, Cactus73, and newbie’s PositiveRate & UAL are doing a great job of giving good current info for dudes. But I always tell folks gather as much “ground zero” information as you can. Everyone’s situation is different, so what is important to you, might not be to someone else. So think about going to Atlanta (at least for the day). Maybe some of the Saturday attendees will post what the HR Ladies had to say in about three weeks. Good luck and viva vegas.

The interview/hiring process has ended for the time being, perhaps for
the remainder of the year

O.K. So who are we merging with? Just last week the numbers for the year were still in the 170 range. One week later the numbers are reduced by over a hundred??? Somethings up.............

I got this e-mail today, which basically reiterates what TWAdude mentioned . . .

Future America West First Officer,

As promised, I want to keep you all updated on the status of new hire class
dates. As you all are probably aware, the May classes were postponed due to
a resource issue in our training department (compression due to a large
number of upgrades/transitions/recurrents). In a recent update, the June
classes have now been cancelled. I am extremely hesitant to give any time
frames, since they continue to change so rapidly. However, we have been
advised that we could potentially start some classes in July. Depending on
where you are in the pool, you may be assigned a class date anywhere between
July and December. Again, we have tentative class dates scheduled from July
through the end of the year, but nothing is confirmed.

I know that changes in class dates, especially postponements and
cancellations, may be a cause of concern for many of you. The training plan
for the last half of the year is directly correlated with our flying
schedule for the beginning of 2006. Due to the current state of the
industry and the rising cost of fuel that is affecting all airlines, we are
hesitant to confirm our flight schedule for the beginning of next year.
Therefore, the training plan is tentative and subject to change based on our
plans for growth.

We will be in contact with you as we confirm class dates. Typically, we
attempt to give you an initial notification about one month prior to your
class date. We then confirm you and send out class confirmation letters
approximately two weeks prior. I will try to do periodic email updates, and
then Tammy or I will call you for formal confirmation. Your patience is
greatly appreciated. Please know that we will update you as we receive
information.

If you have any questions or concerns that this email did not address,
please don't hesitate to call me directly.

I got hired at the end of 2002 and they hired for the first part of the year. Then it stopped. They said there would be no hiring for the rest of the year. Then in September, all hell broke loose and they hired like mad.

If you don't like the way things are going at AWA, wait 15 min., it'll change!
